Cherokee Marsh Engagement Photos: “It Just Makes Us Smile”
Some couples send us a message after their gallery goes live, and the words stick. This one did. After their Cherokee Marsh engagement photos on a warm July evening, they told us their favorite image was hard to explain. It just made them smile. That’s the kind of feedback we never get tired of.
When You Can’t Explain It, That’s the One
“We love how it captures us connecting and laughing with each other. It’s hard to describe why, it just makes us smile.” That message is exactly why we do what we do. You can pose someone. You can direct them. But you can’t manufacture the kind of laughter that lives in a photo like this. Connection like that either shows up or it doesn’t, and these two had it from the first frame.
Cherokee Marsh is one of those Madison locations that doesn’t get nearly enough attention for couples sessions. The wildflower paths, the open meadows, the way golden hour light filters through the tree line: it gives us so much to work with. We shot wide here to let the landscape breathe around them, and honestly, the setting did half the work.
If you’re considering a summer engagement session with a natural, easygoing feel, this is the kind of spot worth putting on your list. No crowds, no competing for space. Just tall grass, soft light, and room to be yourselves. Check out more of our couples work to get a sense of the vibe we go for.
When is the best time of year for engagement photos at Cherokee Marsh?
Late June through early August is our favorite window. The wildflowers are in full bloom, the paths are lush and green, and the sunsets over the open meadows are hard to beat. We typically recommend booking about an hour before sunset for the best light.
How do we book a couples session with Twig & Olive?
Start by reaching out through our contact page. Tell us a little about yourselves, your favorite spots, and the kind of energy you want in your photos. We’ll take it from there.
