The Best Kind of Chaos: A Light Palette Session

Five people, golden light, and a toddler who had zero interest in standing still. This light palette session at St. Andrews State Park was pure energy from the first frame, and we loved every second of it.

Sandy Trails and Warm Light

We timed everything around golden hour, and Panama City Beach delivered. The light filtered through the scrub oaks along those sandy trails and wrapped around this family in a way that made our job easy. We shot wide to pull in the landscape, then came in tight for the moments between moments: hands held, foreheads pressed together, a toddler looking up at his mom like she hung the moon.

This is the kind of family photography Panama City Beach is made for. The park gives us long stretches of open trail with dappled light and natural texture everywhere you look. No backdrops needed. Just sand, trees, and a family willing to be themselves.

The two older sisters were cracking each other up the entire session. That kind of energy is contagious, and honestly, it’s when we do our best work. Nobody is thinking about the camera. They’re just being a family, and we’re catching all of it.

If you’re considering a session at St. Andrews, bring comfortable shoes and let the kids run. The trails handle bare feet just fine, and the sandy paths photograph beautifully. We always tell families the same thing: the less you try to control, the better the gallery turns out. Check out more of our work on our family photography portfolio.

That last image is one of our favorites from the whole session. A little guy leading the way, his whole family right behind him. No posing, no prompting. Just a kid on a path, doing his thing. That’s what family photos should feel like.
