We timed this session for late afternoon, and the Washington Park Arboretum delivered. Dappled light filtered through the canopy of evergreens, bouncing off stone steps and catching the edges of white lace and tiny bare feet. Mom brought a cream knit blanket and laid it out on the stone stairs beside the blooms. It became the anchor for some of our favorite frames. The baby melted into it while her older sister kept sneaking in to make her laugh. We pulled in close every time it happened. Those in-between moments are where the real stuff lives.
This family of five moved through the gardens like they belonged there. Dad carried the baby, the older kids explored, and nobody needed direction.
