Explore GraduationWe Photograph People, Not Poses
We start with a conversation about who we’re photographing and what you’d like to remember. We’ll help you choose a location and plan the session around the people coming with you.
We guide you with movement and conversation, then leave room for the laughs and quiet moments that happen on their own.
What Our Clients Say
“I loved so many of our photos but the one attached made me feel seen as a Mom. As moms we don’t typically have a ton of photos with our kiddos, as we are usually the ones taking the pictures. I love the simplicity, joy and love this image shows. A walk in the park with my girl. What could be better?”
“The photos are AMAZING! Doug, you really captured the personalities of the kids and they look so beautiful! You weren’t joking about Harrison, he really slayed it and even some smiles from Colette. Thank you for capturing this moment in time for us. We love them!”
“We had such a fun experience! Braeden could not stop talking about Mr. Doug after we left. He wanted to know where you were, what you were doing, if you had kids. Thanks for always being the best photographers! Can’t wait to see the pics when they’re ready!”
“My son Harrison commented on how much he likes the photos as I was hanging them on the wall. He said, ‘Doug does a really good job of making me smile. Usually I force a smile for photos and it doesn’t feel good, but Doug always says something that makes me smile without thinking about it.’”
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do portrait sessions take place?
We work at locations across Madison, Dane County, and beyond. Popular spots include the UW Arboretum, Olbrich Gardens, Cherokee Marsh, and Picnic Point. Newborn sessions are available in our Garver Feed Mill studio. We also travel for sessions within Wisconsin and beyond.
What should we wear to our portrait session?
Neutral tones, earthy colors, and soft textures work well together. Coordinate without matching, and avoid large logos, busy patterns, or neon colors. We’ll send a style guide, and we’re always available to answer questions. Booked portrait clients can borrow from our Client Closet with no rental fee. A $30 cleaning fee applies to each dress used.
Do you offer mini sessions?
Yes. Seasonal and holiday mini sessions have their own dates and terms. See upcoming seasonal sessions or our calendar. For a shorter regular session, our family session comparison includes the Mini.
How long until I receive my photos?
Delivery timing depends on your session. Check the details for the session you choose, and we’ll confirm the timing before you book. We individually edit your photographs for color, light, and tone, and email you when your gallery is ready to view, share, and order prints.
