Maybe this is your yearly family photograph. Maybe your little one has changed so much since spring that you want to remember this version of them. We love the color and warmth of autumn, but the photographs are about the people in it.

Mini, Deluxe, and Adventure are for one family. Choose by how you want the session to feel, as well as what you want to bring home. Each session lists both photography time and full booking time. Not sure which fits your group? Tell us who’s coming, and we’ll help you choose.
Mini

A lovely choice for a simple family update and a small set of favorites. We keep the session focused so you can enjoy a little time together in the fall light.

Deluxe

Choose Deluxe when you’d like more time to settle in and a wider mix of photographs. We can move between everyone together, smaller combinations, and moments with the kids.

When grandparents, grown siblings, and their families can all be there, choose Generations. We’ll talk through who’s coming and the combinations that matter, so the photographs include both the whole group and the relationships within it.

Planning your autumn session
Start with your people
Tell us who’s coming, the ages of your children, and anything that would help everyone feel comfortable. We’ll talk through a time and setting that suit your family, not just a pretty backdrop.
Dress for being together
Layers, texture, and colors that sit comfortably together work beautifully in fall. Choose clothes you can move in and shoes that suit the ground. You don’t need everyone in the same outfit. We’ll send a style guide and can help with ideas from our Client Closet.
Leave room for the season
Color, light, and weather change through autumn. Share your preferred dates and how flexible you can be. We’ll talk through the setting and timing, including any announcement or holiday-card plans, before you book.

A few things families ask about fall portraits
When should we book our fall portraits?
Get in touch when you have a few dates in mind. Tell us whether weekdays or weekends work, how flexible you can be, and who’s coming. We’ll check availability and help you choose a session. If the photographs are for holiday cards or gifts, mention that at the start so we can discuss timing.
Can you guarantee peak fall color?
We can’t promise the exact color of the trees on a particular day. Weather and location affect how autumn unfolds. We’ll help you think about the setting and light, and the Travel Wisconsin Fall Color Report can help you follow local conditions. Beautiful photographs don’t depend on every leaf being orange.
How do we choose between Mini, Deluxe, and Adventure?
Mini is a focused session for a simple family update and includes 10 digital files. Deluxe gives you more time and variety, with all edited digital files and an 11×14 lustre print. Adventure leaves more room for exploring and includes all edited digital files plus a Craft Image Pack, a set of selected 4×6 prints. Where do fall sessions take place?
We photograph fall sessions in Madison and Dane County. Tell us about the feel you want and any walking, access, or comfort needs. We’ll help arrange a setting that fits. The session stories above show a few different places and ways a session can unfold.
What should we wear?
Start with clothes you feel good in, then build the rest of the family’s outfits around colors and textures that work together. Layers are useful when temperatures change. Skip large logos if you want the focus to stay on faces, and choose shoes you can comfortably walk in. We’ll send a style guide, and you can borrow pieces from our Client Closet.
What if our children don’t want to sit still?
They don’t need to sit still for the whole session. Walking, being held, playing together, and taking a moment with a parent can all be part of the photographs. Tell us what helps your children feel comfortable. If they need time to warm up, we can talk about whether a longer session would suit them.
Can grandparents or extended family join?
Yes. Generations is designed for extended and multigenerational families. Mini, Deluxe, and Adventure are for one family. If you’re unsure which option fits, tell us who’s coming. We’ll help plan the combinations and choose a session that suits your group.
Can we bring our dog?
Tell us when you inquire so we can plan around your dog and the location’s rules. The family session stories show how pets can be part of the photographs. We’ll talk through how to include yours alongside the photographs you want of the family.
What should we do if the forecast looks uncertain?
Contact us before your session so we can discuss the conditions and the plan for your date. We’ll go over any weather or rescheduling questions during booking, rather than asking you to guess from a forecast.
Does buying a session reserve our date?
Purchasing a session does not reserve a date, time, or location. You can purchase a session online, then send us your preferred dates and session ideas. We’ll confirm availability and guide you through the booking paperwork. You can also ask us a question before purchasing.
