“There’s Something Special Here” | A First Roots Farm Family Session

Late August at First Roots Farm is something else entirely. The sunflowers are at full height, the wildflowers are doing whatever they want, and the late summer light has that heavy, golden quality that makes every frame feel unhurried. It’s the kind of setting that does half the work for you before anyone even arrives.

Justin and Jenna are returning clients, and there is something genuinely special about photographing a family across multiple seasons and years. You start to see how the kids have grown, how the family has settled into itself, and how that ease shows up in the images in ways that are hard to manufacture on a first session.

What Mom and Dad Noticed

“Seeing the girls work together is fantastic. They look so sweet together and are actively cooperating. Such a great shot with the sun coming through. There’s also an indescribable quality that was captured in this one shot.”

The Girls and the Light

This frame came together the way the best ones always do: organically, with nobody forcing it. The girls were working together, the sun was coming through at just the right angle, and everything landed at once. It’s the kind of shot you recognize immediately when you see it in the gallery.

When a client tells you there’s an indescribable quality to an image, that’s the highest compliment in this work. It means the camera caught something that goes beyond composition and light. It means it’s actually them.
