One-year-olds don’t pose. They grab things, they squirm, they stare at the ceiling fan like it’s the most fascinating object in the room. And honestly? That’s when we do our best work. We kept the setup simple: warm tones, soft textures, and a boho corner of our studio with exposed brick and tropical greens.

We pulled in tight for the detail shots. Those little hands and that sleepy expression in the bassinet aren’t going to last. The collage frames tell a fuller story than any single image could. That’s something we think about with every milestone session: the range matters as much as the hero shot.

The little white chair moment was pure gold. Not because it was perfectly posed, but because this kid just sat there looking directly at us like, “Okay, what now?” We love when babies give us that look. It’s curious, calm, and completely unfiltered.

Then came the stuffed bear. The hug happened on its own, and we caught it. No direction, no prompting. Just a one-year-old holding a bear on a fur rug in front of warm brick.
