Kevin & Karly: Industrial Charm at Creamery 201
Some couples just have it. That thing where they’re so locked in on each other that our job becomes less about directing and more about keeping up. Kevin and Karly were exactly that kind of couple. Their September day at Creamery 201 gave us the perfect stage for it. Fort Atkinson wedding photography doesn’t always get the credit it deserves, but this venue alone makes a strong case. Warm light floods through industrial windows. Exposed cream brick lines every wall. Edison bulbs glow overhead. Pair all of that with two people who laughed, cried happy tears, and pulled everyone into the celebration. You’ve got a gallery we couldn’t wait to deliver.
Getting Ready and a First Look Full of Feeling
Creamery 201’s bridal suite has this gorgeous weathered barn door that we love using as a backdrop. Karly’s gown from Vera’s House of Bridals hung there on a custom wooden hanger. It set the tone before we even started shooting details. Her flat lay came together beautifully: sage and dusty blue invitation suites, delicate heels nestled among florals, and a small memorial photo charm on her bouquet. Those quiet personal touches always carry weight in a gallery.
When Karly’s mom helped with the final adjustments on her dress, the two of them fell into this smiling embrace that needed no words. We pulled in close for that one. It’s the kind of moment you can’t recreate. Across the venue, Kevin and his groomsmen in matching gray suits from Generation Tux were cracking each other up under the bistro lights. Tender on one side, rowdy on the other. That contrast told us exactly what kind of day this was going to be.
A Ceremony with Sand, Vows, and a Whole Lot of Cheering
We have a thing for Creamery 201’s ceremony hall. High white ceilings, dark drapery framing the altar, Edison bulbs strung wall to wall. The space feels both grand and intimate at the same time, which is rare. We shot wide during the processional to capture the full scope of it. If you’re getting married in a room like this, you want to see the room. Kevin and Karly exchanged vows surrounded by their wedding party in sage green and gray. They then completed a sand ceremony at a small table near the altar.
But honestly? The moment that made the gallery was the announcement. Karly threw both arms in the air. Kevin pumped his fist. The entire room erupted. That kind of unscripted, full-body joy is exactly what we live for behind the camera. They sealed it with a kiss walking back up the aisle. Guests cheered on both sides, and we were right there with them. No pose could ever compete with a reaction like that.
Golden Hour Portraits in Downtown Fort Atkinson
After the ceremony, we took Kevin and Karly out into the streets and alleys surrounding the venue. This is one of our favorite things about Fort Atkinson wedding photography: the textures are everywhere. Weathered brick, dark wooden loading doors, ivy creeping up old stone walls. Every surface gives us something to work with. If you’re a couple considering Creamery 201, know that the surrounding blocks are a portrait goldmine.
The late afternoon light was exactly what we hoped for. Soft golden sun poured down the street and caught Karly’s veil as it lifted behind her. It silhouetted the two of them crossing an intersection hand in hand. We let the scene breathe. One of the quieter moments happened near a small bridge by the river. They just leaned into each other and smiled. No direction from us, no prompting. Just two people deeply happy to be married. Those are the frames that end up on the wall.
Reception under the String Lights
Back inside, the reception space looked incredible. Black linens, eucalyptus garland runners, baby’s breath centerpieces, and soft blue napkins gave the room an understated elegance. It felt completely right for the venue. A wooden signing round engraved with “The Rauls, September 2nd, 2023” sat near the entrance where guests left their marks. A simple white cake from Karen the Cake Lady anchored the dessert table. Every detail was dialed in without feeling overdone. That’s our favorite kind of reception to photograph.
Carla’s Catering kept the plates full, and Carter Events and Entertainment kept the dance floor packed all night. Kevin and Karly’s first dance was all smiles and laughter under an amber glow from the bistro lights. That shift from polished ceremony to late-night party energy is something we live for. These two made the transition look effortless. If you’re exploring southern Wisconsin wedding venues, Creamery 201 absolutely deserves a spot on your list. The bones of this place do so much of the heavy lifting. With the right couple, the results speak for themselves.

What makes Creamery 201 a great venue for wedding photos?
Creamery 201 offers an incredible mix of industrial texture and elegant architecture. The exposed cream brick, high ceilings, Edison bulb string lights, and dramatic drapery give photographers layered backdrops for every part of the day. Large windows also bring in beautiful natural light for ceremony and portrait work.
What is your approach to photographing an industrial-style wedding?
We lean into the venue’s character rather than fighting it. Textured walls, architectural lines, and moody lighting become part of the composition. The goal is to balance the grand scale of the space with the intimate, emotional moments happening inside it. That creates images that feel both dramatic and personal.
We’re planning a wedding in the Fort Atkinson area. How can we see more of your work?
Congratulations! We love working in Fort Atkinson and throughout southern Wisconsin. For that reason, we encourage you to view our wedding photography portfolio. It showcases a wide range of celebrations, and we would be happy to share complete galleries that are relevant to your specific plans.
