Skye & Heath’s Harvest Moon Pond Summer Wedding in Poynette

Some venues just feel right the second you pull in. The afternoon we arrived at Harvest Moon Pond for Skye and Heath’s Harvest Moon Pond summer wedding, everything confirmed it. Warm light sitting low over open fields. A weeping willow so big it felt like its own room. A couple so clearly in love that every frame came easy. This was one of those days where the place, the people, and the light all lined up, and we just had to show up and pay attention.

Getting Ready by the Silo

The stone and silo building gave us this perfect mix of soft window light and textured walls. Skye’s mom buttoned her into a lace gown with floral applique sleeves, and we pulled in close for that one because the tenderness between them was palpable. Across the way, Heath’s navy suit and floral tie hung against weathered metal doors. Even the details told the story before anyone spoke a word. Blush roses, pearl-strap heels, a wooden “Welcome to Our Beginning” sign framed by greenery.

Then Skye stepped outside, and her bridesmaids completely lost it. Happy tears, gasps, hands over mouths. All of it happened against that rustic stone wall, and the backdrop made every reaction photograph beautifully. That kind of genuine emotion is impossible to stage. Moments like those are exactly why we do this work.

First Look and a Kiss by the Silo

Heath stood facing the evergreens in the garden near the tall wooden silo. Skye came up behind him with her bouquet, and the second he turned around, his whole face changed. Not just a smile. Something deeper. They held hands and took a slow walk through the hostas and wildflowers, then shared a quiet kiss beside the silo wall. These two were completely at ease with each other, and honestly, that is when we do our best work. No posing required. Just space to breathe and be together in lush summer greenery. We shot wide through the garden to let the landscape frame them, and every image from that stretch feels calm and intimate.

Ceremony Under the Willow

If you’re considering this venue, picture a giant weeping willow anchoring an open lawn. White chairs fanned out on both sides. Skye walked through a set of wooden barn doors framed by hedges, then down a grassy aisle to meet Heath under a draped wooden arch. Branches swayed overhead, and the afternoon sun filtered through in soft, dappled patches. The light under that canopy was the kind you can’t replicate with any modifier. It just gave us everything we needed.

Their officiant from Koru Ceremony brought real humor and heart to the vows. Laughter echoed across the pond more than once. For us, this outdoor ceremony was a reminder that the simplest backdrops often create the most powerful moments. No elaborate staging. Just a willow, a pond, and two people meaning every word.

Golden Hour on the Grounds

After the ceremony, we stole Skye and Heath away while cocktail hour kept their guests happy. The evening light at this property is something else entirely. It drops low behind a row of columnar evergreens and floods everything in warm amber. Skye’s lace gown practically glowed as they walked along the tree-lined path. Heath couldn’t stop pulling her close, and we just kept shooting.

One image we keep coming back to is the overhead shot of them lying on a crocheted blanket in the grass. Foreheads touching, totally still. It’s quiet and intimate and completely them. Those unhurried minutes between ceremony and reception are always worth protecting in the timeline. This Harvest Moon Pond summer wedding proved it once again. If you’re building a schedule for a day here, give yourselves at least 30 to 45 minutes during golden hour. You will not regret it.

Barn Reception with Personal Touches

Inside the barn, string lights crisscrossed exposed beams and candles flickered along eucalyptus garland runners. What got us, though, were the tables. Skye and Heath named each one after a place that mattered to them, complete with handwritten stories explaining why. A “Devils Lake, WI” card. A “Ten Sleep” postcard. Those small choices turned the reception into a love letter their guests could walk through, and they gave us some of our favorite detail shots of the entire season.

The cake from Golden Days Bakery sat on a rustic stand with a gold script topper reading their names. After the cut, Skye and Heath moved to the dance floor for a first dance bathed in warm amber light. From there, the barn just buzzed. That shift from a quiet, personal ceremony under a willow to a packed dance floor full of energy is something we live for. It’s what makes a gallery feel complete.

Frequently Asked Questions about Harvest Moon Pond Weddings

What makes Harvest Moon Pond a great venue for summer wedding photos?

Harvest Moon Pond is surrounded by lush green grounds, a large weeping willow, and a reflective pond. Together, these create gorgeous backdrops all season long. The property also features a rustic barn with string lights and exposed beams for warm, candlelit reception images. Golden hour here is especially beautiful. The low sun floods the tree-lined paths with rich amber light.

How should we plan our portrait timeline for a barn wedding in Poynette?

Build at least 30 to 45 minutes for couple portraits during golden hour. That’s typically one to two hours before sunset. A first look earlier in the day gives you even more flexibility, allowing relaxed bridal party photos before the ceremony. At Harvest Moon Pond, the best portrait spots include the willow tree, the pondside meadow, and the tree-lined path near the entrance.
