Colleen & Cody’s Factory on Barclay Wedding in Milwaukee

Some venues just hand you the good stuff. Cream city brick, steel trusses, blue-tinted factory glass, and light that pours in like it knows exactly where to land. Colleen and Cody’s Factory on Barclay wedding had all of that, plus a couple so genuinely happy that every frame felt effortless. Their September day was boho and industrial all at once. Pampas grass softened the grit, and a wildflower field just minutes away gave us golden hour portraits. It was relaxed, joyful, and completely them.

Getting Ready in Industrial Style

We love a venue that doubles as a detail backdrop, and The Factory on Barclay delivered. Colleen’s lace gown hanging against that weathered brick, her earrings catching light on a piece of rusted metal, rings nestled in white daisies. None of it was staged in some sterile bridal suite. The venue itself did the styling. We just had to show up and shoot it.

Cody brought the same energy on his side. Wooden watch, sushi-print socks, a floral tie that pulled the whole palette together. One of our favorite frames from the morning is him sitting in a gold velvet chair, pulling on those patterned socks. Total confidence. His mom pinned his boutonniere in front of exposed brick, and the pride on her face was impossible to miss. We pulled in close for that one. Moments like it don’t wait around.

A First Look Against Cream City Brick

Colleen and Cody did their first look right outside the venue, beneath those iconic factory windows. Cream city brick and patchy blue glass gave us a backdrop that felt gritty and romantic at the same time. Cody’s reaction was everything you hope for: a slow turn, a huge grin, then the kind of hug that makes the rest of the world disappear. That joy set the tone for the entire afternoon.

After portraits together, the full wedding party jumped in. Bridesmaids wore deep burgundy. Groomsmen were in navy with brown shoes. Group shots against those green doors and weathered brick had a moody, editorial quality that we couldn’t get enough of. Then came the real magic. A nearby field was blooming waist-high with wildflowers, and the late afternoon light was perfect. If you’re considering this venue, know that the surrounding neighborhood gives you so much range. Urban grit one minute, open fields the next.

Ceremony, Cake, and a Packed Dance Floor

The ceremony space inside the main hall stopped us in our tracks. String lights and a chandelier hung from red steel trusses. Brick walls rose high on every side. Colleen and Cody stood beneath a hexagonal wooden arch draped in florals and white fabric. Every seat was full. The room had this quiet, focused energy, and we shot wide to let the architecture and the emotion share the frame.

From there, the reception shifted into something completely different. A chalkboard menu stood next to pampas grass arrangements. A gold-framed “Note” sign sat alongside photos of the couple on the guest book table. Centerpieces mixed candlelight with polaroid-style table numbers. A custom terracotta plate read “Congratulations” with their names and date. That kind of layered, intentional design is a photographer’s dream. Every corner gives you something worth capturing.

The naked cake, topped with a gold “Mr & Mrs Kerchoff” topper and pink roses, fit the boho aesthetic perfectly. After the cut, Colleen and Cody had their first dance under purple uplighting. Nobody wanted to leave. Honestly, neither did we. Shooting this Factory on Barclay wedding was a highlight of our fall season. These two were completely relaxed, and that is when we do our best work.
