Little One, Big Moment: Newborn Boy Summer Session
Soft light, a warm room, and a baby who slept through almost every setup. This newborn boy summer session at our Garver Feed Mill studio was one of those mornings where the pace just felt right from the start. No fussing, no rushing. Just calm.
A Studio Built for This
We keep our studio warm for a reason. Newborns are most relaxed when the temperature is right, and when they’re relaxed, we get images like these. This little guy barely stirred as we moved through wraps, baskets, and family poses. His parents were right there the whole time, and we made sure to pull them into the frame early. Those black-and-white family moments are always the ones that end up on the wall.
We chose earth tones for this session: creams, tans, a bit of sage green tucked in with the props. The textures layered beautifully, and the neutral palette let the baby be the focus of every frame. That’s always the goal. Simple setups, real details, nothing that distracts from who you actually came to photograph.
There’s a reason we block out extra time for every newborn session. Babies set the schedule. If he needs to eat, we pause. If he needs to be held, we wait. The best newborn portraits happen when nobody feels rushed, and honestly, that patience is where our best work lives.
If you’re looking for newborn photography in Madison, WI, our Garver Feed Mill space was designed with exactly this kind of session in mind. Controlled light, comfortable seating for parents, and every prop and wrap ready to go. You show up with your baby. We handle the rest.
Those tiny toes. That little face resting on his hands. These are the details that disappear in weeks, and they’re the ones we make sure to capture every single time.
What should we expect during a newborn session at your Garver Feed Mill studio?
Our studio is kept warm and quiet so your baby stays comfortable the entire time. Sessions typically last two to three hours, and we build in plenty of time for feeding and soothing breaks. You don’t need to bring anything other than your baby and yourselves.
When is the best time to book a newborn session with Twig & Olive?
We recommend booking during your second or third trimester so we can reserve your spot. The ideal window for newborn portraits is within the first two weeks after birth, when babies are sleepiest and most comfortable being posed.
