A Boho Spring Wedding at Poynette’s Harvest Moon Pond

Pink peonies against weathered barn wood. A kid playing violin under a willow tree. A lace gown catching the last bit of overcast light on a rust-streaked sliding door. This boho spring wedding at Poynette’s Harvest Moon Pond was the kind of day where every single corner gave us something worth shooting. The couple brought this effortless, laid-back energy that seeped into everything. Honestly, that is when we do our best work. From quiet detail shots in the morning to golden hour portraits in the pines, the whole day just kept giving.

Details, First Look, and a Willow Tree Ceremony

The morning was quiet in the best way. That Grace Loves Lace gown hanging on the barn door gave us this incredible texture contrast, delicate lace against rough, peeling wood. Blush heels on lichen-covered stone. A bouquet of peonies, ranunculus, and lilac sitting in soft light. We pulled in close for those detail shots because the layered, organic styling deserved it. If you’re a couple with bohemian taste looking for a venue that matches that energy without trying too hard, Harvest Moon Pond is the real deal.

Their first look happened along a gravel garden path lined with evergreens and hostas. She came walking through, he turned around, and the laughter hit immediately. Loud, genuine, zero hesitation. No stiff posing, no overthinking. Just two people completely thrilled to finally see each other. Those are the frames we live for.

For the ceremony, guests gathered under a massive willow tree with white chairs fanned out in a half circle on the lawn. A young boy played violin as the bride came down the aisle. The groomsmen stood under those sweeping branches looking like they were trying not to cry. The groom’s face the moment he saw her said everything. We shot wide to take in the full scene: that willow canopy, the guests, the light filtering through the branches. After vows and a first kiss, the cheering carried across the whole property.

Wedding Party Portraits and Golden Hour

After the ceremony, the wedding party gathered near the old barn. Bridesmaids wore mismatched neutral gowns in champagne and gold tones. Groomsmen kept it classic in black. One of our favorite frames from this stretch is the whole group huddled tight, cracking up at something none of us will ever remember. That kind of unscripted energy always tells a better story than a perfectly lined-up pose.

From there, we pulled the couple away for portraits. The property at Harvest Moon Pond really showed off: stone paths, lush garden greenery, a pine grove, open fields that catch the last light. The bride’s veil caught wind as she looked over her shoulder near the garden. We grabbed that frame fast. Later, in the pines, warm golden light filtered through the trunks while they danced close. The light was doing all the work for us. We just had to be in the right spot.

Then came the barn wall shot. Low sun, long shadows, their silhouettes stretching across the wood as they leaned in for a kiss. That’s one of those boho spring wedding at Poynette moments that felt like a gift. You can’t plan it. You just have to be watching, ready. Sunset portraits in the open field rounded out the session. The two of them walked hand in hand as the sky turned amber behind the tree line. This is the kind of gallery that reminds us why we love what we do.

Barn Reception Under Twinkling Lights

Inside the barn, the reception space had this warm glow that hit you the second you walked in. String lights draped across exposed beams. Candles flickered on dark wood tables. A rustic seating chart made from reclaimed wood greeted guests at the entrance. Centerpieces mixed peonies and greenery with wood slice table numbers, keeping that bohemian thread running through every last detail. The light in that room was soft and warm. We leaned into it for everything.

The couple sat at a head table framed by white drapes and more string lights, flowers spilling across the front edge. Between toasts and dinner, they kept leaning into each other, whispering, laughing. That closeness is something we always watch for during receptions. These two made it so easy to find. We pulled in close for the toasts because that is where the real moments live. The quivering voice of a best man. The bride covering her face laughing. Their kiss at the head table, surrounded by warm light and their favorite people, closed the evening with the same joy it started with.

Frequently Asked Questions about Harvest Moon Pond Weddings

What are the best photo locations at Harvest Moon Pond?

Harvest Moon Pond offers a fantastic range of backdrops. The massive willow tree is the centerpiece for ceremonies and portraits alike. Beyond that, the rustic barn exteriors give you incredible texture for close-up and wide shots. The pine grove is gorgeous during golden hour, and the open fields catch the last light of the evening for dramatic sunset portraits.

How do you photograph an outdoor boho wedding in a natural, candid way?

Our approach centers on documenting the day as it unfolds rather than directing every moment. For an outdoor bohemian celebration, soft natural light does most of the heavy lifting. We encourage real interaction over stiff poses, which lets us capture genuine laughter, quiet whispers, and the small in-between moments that make a wedding feel like yours.

We’re planning a wedding in the Poynette or Madison area. How can we see more of your work?
