Late-Summer Love: A Rustic Wedding at The Fields Reserve

That long-sleeved lace dress hanging against reclaimed wood told us everything. Every detail was intentional, every texture was rich. The couple behind it all brought an energy that made the whole day feel effortless. This wedding at Fields Reserve Stoughton gave us warm light, incredible florals, and one of the most joyful wedding parties we’ve ever worked with.

Mimosas, Matching Robes, and the Best Kind of Morning

The morning started with laughter. Loud, genuine, contagious laughter. The bride and her crew showed up in matching pink robes, champagne already in hand. The energy outside that white barn was electric. One of our favorite things about Fields Reserve is how the exterior doubles as a backdrop before the ceremony even begins. That crisp white barn with those big X-pattern doors? It’s a photographer’s gift. All we had to do was line them up and let the light work.

Inside, the ceremony barn told a different story. Dark reclaimed wood walls. A crystal chandelier catching light from the clerestory windows. Garlands of eucalyptus draped over the altar. The contrast between that bright, airy exterior and this moody, warm interior is something we lean into every time we shoot here. It gives us two entirely different palettes in a single venue.

A Ceremony Full of Warmth and Natural Light

Light poured through the upper windows and caught the lace on the bride’s sleeves. The gown had this intricate illusion lace bodice that practically glowed against the dark wood. Her bridesmaids wore soft dusty rose. The groomsmen were in light gray suits. The whole scene felt balanced and warm without being overly styled.

For the ring exchange, we pulled in tight. That moment where hands meet and the officiant’s voice softens is one we always want. The chandelier overhead added just enough sparkle to make the frame feel alive. After the ceremony, everyone gathered on the lawn for a group photo with the barn behind them. The joy on every single face told us exactly how loved this couple is.

Golden Hour in the Tall Grass

This is the part of the day we live for. The wedding party portraits during golden hour were next level. Groomsmen tackled each other. Bridesmaids threw their arms up into the light. Every frame had real, unscripted joy. Golden backlight wrapped around everyone, and we shot wide to let that warmth fill the edges of every image.

Then we stole the couple away. Just the two of them, walking through tall grass and wildflowers along the property’s edge. The bride led her groom by the hand, bouquet swinging at her side. The sun sat right behind them. That light filtering through the evergreens and catching the lace on her back gave us some of the most gorgeous frames of the entire day.

If you’re considering this venue, know that those surrounding fields are stunning for portraits. Late summer is ideal, when the grasses are tall and golden. Honestly, this is the kind of wedding at Fields Reserve Stoughton WI that reminds us why we love what we do. Relaxed couples, beautiful light, and a setting that doesn’t need a single thing added.

Reception Details and the First Dance

The reception space was layered with thoughtful details. A three-tier white cake with fresh florals sat on a whiskey barrel, flanked by framed photos. Gold “Mr & Mrs” letters marked the head table. Centerpieces mixed blush roses with eucalyptus in gold urns. The warmth of the wood walls made every table glow under the Edison bulbs.

One thing that stood out was the memorial table near the entrance. Framed photos of loved ones who couldn’t be there added a deeply personal touch. These quiet details often carry the most weight in a gallery. We always take the time to photograph them.

The first dance brought everything full circle. Low amber light. The wood-paneled walls fading into soft bokeh behind them. The couple completely lost in each other. It was quiet and intimate, even with a full room watching. That shift from big, bright golden-hour energy to this soft, candlelit feeling is something we always look forward to at barn venues.
