Golden Hour and a New Baby: Summer Newborn Wildflowers Session
Late July light has a way of turning everything warm and soft, and that is exactly what we walked into for this summer newborn wildflowers session at Mayberry Farm. The wildflower fields were at their peak, the baby was calm, and the whole evening felt unhurried. Honestly, that combination is a photographer’s dream.
Wildflowers, Golden Light, and a Very Content Baby
We don’t do outdoor newborn sessions often, but when the location is right, the results are something a studio just can’t replicate. Mayberry Farm gave us color everywhere we looked. Wildflowers in yellows, purples, and whites stretched out in every direction, and we used them to frame nearly every shot.
Mom showed up in a red dress that popped against all that green and gold. We pulled back wide for several frames because the contrast was too good to crop tight. Then we moved in closer for the quiet moments: her whispering to the baby, that little hand curling around her finger. Those are the frames families come back to years later.
Shooting a newborn outdoors takes a little extra planning on our end, but the baby sets the pace. If she needs a break, we pause. If the light shifts, we follow it. This little one stayed perfectly content the entire session, which gave us time to set up details like the basket nestled right into the flowers. We love when everything comes together without being forced.
If you’re considering an outdoor newborn session in the Mayville area, summer is the season to do it. The light is long, the fields are alive, and the whole feel is relaxed and natural. Take a look at our newborn and maternity photography page to see more of what we do.
When is the best time for an outdoor newborn session at Mayberry Farm?
Mid to late July is ideal because the wildflower fields are at full bloom and the golden hour light lasts well into the evening. We recommend scheduling within the baby’s first three weeks, so timing the due date with peak season takes a little coordination.
