Alexa & Tanner: Wedding Photography at The Lageret

We have a thing for The Lageret. Every time we walk through those doors, the light and texture hit us all over again. Alexa and Tanner’s wedding day gave us all of it: soft summer light pouring through warehouse windows, exposed brick warming up every frame, and two people so locked in on each other that we barely had to direct a thing. Our wedding photography at The Lageret is always a favorite to shoot. This one stood out even by those standards.

Getting Ready at The Lageret

Alexa’s morning unfolded in that bright, white-walled getting-ready suite upstairs. Bridesmaids in matching robes, dresses hanging from a wooden ladder, and the kind of relaxed laughter that tells you everyone actually likes being together. Then her mom stepped in to help zip the back of her gown. The room went quiet for just a beat. That pause between the two of them said everything. We pulled in close because those still, unscripted seconds are where the real emotion lives.

Tanner’s side was a different world entirely. Leather shoes lined up, a personalized groomsman box making the rounds, and his crew already giving each other a hard time before noon. One of the things we love about shooting at The Lageret is that both prep spaces have so much personality. They tell two completely different sides of the same story. That contrast always gives us a richer gallery.

A First Look Under Timber Beams

These two decided on a first look inside the ceremony space before guests arrived. Honestly, it was the perfect call. Dark timber trusses overhead, white draping softening the brick behind them, no one else in the room. Alexa walked toward Tanner from the far end of the aisle, and his reaction was instant. Grinning, shaking his head, pulling her in. We shot wide to let the architecture frame them because that room deserved to be part of the moment.

After the first look, we spent time with portraits around the grounds. The Lageret gives you textures you just don’t find at most venues: weathered metal siding, white painted brick, overgrown greenery spilling over fences, and those iconic red warehouse doors. Every turn offered something new. Alexa and Tanner were completely relaxed through all of it. That is when we do our best work. No stiffness, no overthinking. Just two people enjoying each other while we chase the light around them.

Ceremony, Party, and Everything Between

Afternoon light filtered through those tall windows as guests filled the ceremony space. Draped fabric and trailing greenery lined the aisle. Koru Ceremony led a service that had the room swinging between big laughs and people reaching for tissues. The florals from Flora by Jamae played beautifully against the raw brick, adding warmth without fighting the architecture. Light coming through those windows gave us everything we needed, so we stayed natural and let the room do the heavy lifting.

Group photos happened outside among the trees, and this crew made it easy. Bridesmaids wore a gorgeous mix of berry and blush tones. The groomsmen matched in sharp navy suits from Indochino. The whole group had this loose, genuine energy that made every combination fun to shoot. If you’re considering The Lageret for your own wedding, know that those grounds give you portrait options for days.

Once the reception kicked in, the space transformed. A hand-lettered chalkboard greeted guests at the door. A neon sign glowed behind a wall of greenery, and family photos lined a brick ledge by the staircase. Blue Plate Catering handled dinner while Nothing Bundt Cakes kept the dessert table disappearing. Sound by Design packed the dance floor all night. Those Edison bulbs overhead turned the whole room golden as the sun went down. Every late-night frame had this warm, cinematic quality we couldn’t get enough of. That shift from polished ceremony to late-night party energy is something we live for. This wedding photography at The Lageret delivered it in full.

Frequently Asked Questions about The Lageret Weddings

What makes The Lageret a great venue for wedding photos?

The Lageret is a dream for photography because of its layered textures. Exposed brick, heavy timber trusses, wide-plank wood floors, and tall warehouse windows all exist in a single space. Natural light pours in during the day, and Edison bulb fixtures create warm, golden tones in the evening. The exterior grounds add even more variety with painted brick walls, weathered metal siding, and the venue’s signature red doors.

How do you handle the lighting transition from ceremony to reception?

During the ceremony and portraits, we lean into the soft natural light coming through the large windows. Once the reception begins and the sun sets, we blend ambient light from the venue’s Edison fixtures with subtle off-camera flash. This approach preserves the warm, moody atmosphere while keeping the couple and their guests sharp and well-lit in every frame.
