New Baby, New Favorites: A Botanical Newborn Session
The big brother stole the show before we even started. He walked in ready to hold his baby sister, and that confidence set the tone for the entire botanical newborn session. We had florals, soft knits, and warm light waiting at our Garver Feed Mill studio, but the sweetest detail walked in on his own two feet.
Florals, Knits, and One Very Proud Big Brother
We built this setup around soft greens, cream textures, and just enough botanical detail to give each frame a garden feel without overwhelming a seven-pound subject. The peach roses and trailing greenery brought warmth into the frame, and we kept the palette muted so baby stayed the focal point.
Then her brother climbed in close to the basket, and we barely had to direct him. He leaned in, kissed her forehead, and just held still. That kind of moment is impossible to manufacture. You either catch it or you don’t, and we caught it.
Studio sessions give us total control over light, temperature, and timing. That matters more with newborns than any other session we shoot. Baby sets the pace. If she needs to eat, we pause. If she fusses, we wait. The studio at Garver Feed Mill is designed for exactly this: no rush, no stress, just a warm room and good light. We pulled in tight on the details here because every tiny feature changes so fast in those first weeks.
The last setup paired a nest bowl with greenery and roses, and honestly, the close-up of her hands resting on the petals might be our favorite frame from the day. Those details disappear in weeks. Having them on your wall a year from now hits different.
If you’re thinking about newborn portraits in Madison, our studio is ready whenever your family is. The botanical look works beautifully, but we customize every session to fit your style. Bring ideas, bring siblings, bring whatever feels right. We’ll handle the rest.
When should I book a newborn session at your Garver Feed Mill studio?
We recommend booking during your second or third trimester so we can hold a spot for you. Most newborn sessions happen within the first two weeks after birth, when babies are sleepiest and easiest to pose. Reach out early and we’ll work around your due date.
Can I include siblings or parents in a newborn session?
Absolutely. Some of our strongest images come from big brothers and sisters meeting their new sibling in the studio. We build time into every session for family poses, and we love when parents step into the frame too.
