Alex & Rachel’s Rustic Fall Wedding at Garver Feed Mill

A burgundy suit with a floral tie. A lace gown with tiny buttons running down the back. The moment Alex and Rachel started getting ready, we could feel the intention behind every detail. As a Garver Feed Mill photographer, we’ve shot this venue in every season. Fall here hits different, though. The warm tones of brick and steel pick up the amber and gold outside. Everything feels cohesive without trying too hard. This wedding leaned into that effortlessly.

Getting Ready at Our Studio

Rachel got ready at our Twig & Olive Photography studio, which is always a treat. The light in there is soft and even. It gave B Beauty Bar the perfect setting to work their magic. Meanwhile, hands were buttoning lace, pinning on earrings, and fastening a gown from Vera’s House of Bridals. That button-back detail was gorgeous. We pulled in tight for those close-ups, and the natural window light gave us everything we needed.

Across the room, Alex suited up in a rich burgundy jacket from Jazzman. Dark floral tie. Cognac shoes. His mom pinned the boutonniere, and the way he looked down at her while she fussed over the placement was one of those quiet frames we knew would land. Soft emotion against industrial textures? A photographer’s dream.

The First Look and Ceremony

For their first look, we took Alex and Rachel to the industrial catwalk inside Garver Feed Mill. Green pendant lights, steel beams, and warm wood railings framed them on both sides. Rachel tapped Alex on the shoulder. He turned around and just stopped breathing for a second. That told us everything. From there, the two of them laughed, kissed, and held onto each other like no one else was in the building. These are the moments we live for.

The ceremony took place outside against the venue’s iconic brick facade. Intimate, short, and personal. Rachel’s dad walked her down along the brick exterior. We shot wide to pull in all that texture and the overcast autumn sky. When they kissed, Rachel cupped Alex’s face with both hands. That frame is one of our favorites from the entire day. If you’re considering an outdoor ceremony at Garver, the covered steel and brick backdrop works beautifully rain or shine.

Portraits in the Fields and Greenery

One of the best things about shooting at Garver Feed Mill is how much variety sits right outside the door. After the ceremony, we walked with Alex and Rachel through the lush gardens. Daffodil Parker’s bouquet was full of white garden roses and warm peach blooms with trailing greenery. It paired perfectly against Alex’s burgundy suit. The two of them were completely relaxed. That is honestly when we do our best work.

Then we moved into the open prairie fields beyond the venue. The grasses had turned gold and copper. Willows were catching the last of the light. The whole landscape felt made for fall portraits. Rachel lifted her train to walk through the wildflowers, and Alex kept looking at her like he couldn’t believe his luck. Those candid, in-between moments always end up being the ones couples come back to. This is the kind of work that keeps us coming back as a Garver Feed Mill photographer season after season.

A Tented Reception with All the Right Details

The reception was set up under a tent just outside Garver’s brick walls. Cafe lights strung overhead. Greenery draped everywhere. Daffodil Parker’s florals carried through to the tables with lush, organic arrangements in cream and copper tones on wooden charger plates. Every detail felt curated but never fussy. Table signs, framed family photos, hand-lettered Jenga blocks for guests to sign. Event Essentials pulled together rentals that matched the warmth of the space perfectly.

Bloom Bake Shop created a simple two-tier white cake topped with dried botanicals and fresh blooms. Alex and Rachel cut it together laughing, then kissed while their guests cheered. Later in the evening, Alex picked up a guitar and played for Rachel right there at the table. The brick wall and trailing vines framed them, and the room went quiet. That shift from lively celebration to a single, tender moment is something we always keep our cameras ready for. It’s the kind of surprise that makes a gallery unforgettable.
