An Intimate Private Residence Wedding in Verona, Wisconsin
Gold-rimmed chargers, eucalyptus garlands, a circular floral arch on the lawn, and glowing lanterns released into the night sky. Emily and Quinn’s private residence wedding Wisconsin celebration had every bit of the elegance you’d expect from a grand venue. Except it all happened right in their own backyard in Verona. That combination of polished detail and deeply personal setting is something we rarely get to photograph, and it made for one of our favorite galleries of the year.
Rooftop Details, Capitol Views, and a First Look Worth the Rain
The morning started downtown. Emily’s dress hung on a rooftop balcony overlooking the Wisconsin State Capitol, and even on a gray, drizzly day that backdrop gave us something cinematic. The wet tile reflected the gown and the skyline behind it. A little rain never hurts the photos. It softens the light and adds a moodiness you can’t manufacture.
Their first look happened on that same rooftop. Quinn turned around, saw Emily in her strapless gown, and everything on his face shifted. We stayed tight on their reactions because those few seconds are always the ones couples come back to. The invitation suite, a white rose bouquet, and a bottle of Chanel Chance were laid out on a warm wood surface nearby. We grabbed those detail shots quickly before heading to Verona.
A Backyard That Felt Like a Venue
Back at the house, the property had been completely transformed. Cross-back chairs lined the lawn facing a lush circular arch designed by Jane Kelly Floral. It overflowed with eucalyptus and white roses. A sailcloth tent glowed with bistro lights behind the ceremony space. The house itself, all lit up with string lights on the second-floor balcony, framed everything beautifully. If you’re considering an at home wedding, this is what it can look like with the right planning.
Emily came down the stairs on her dad’s arm, both of them beaming. Quinn got visibly emotional the moment he saw her. We pulled in close for those reactions because they tell the real story. The vows were exchanged under the tent with the arch repositioned behind them, star-shaped lanterns hanging overhead, and their closest people circled around. It felt less like a ceremony and more like a living room full of love. That warmth carried into every frame.
Reception Details and a Magical Send-Off
The reception tent was filled with thoughtful touches. Gold-beaded charger plates, greenery runners, a hand-lettered welcome sign, and a bar setup that looked like a cocktail lounge. The cake had a custom topper that looked exactly like the two of them. These are the Verona WI backyard wedding photos that remind us why detail shots matter. Every choice reflected who they are.
After dinner and dancing under the bistro lights, the night ended with something we had never photographed before. Guests lined up along the edge of the yard and released glowing sky lanterns into the darkness. Orange, pink, and gold light floated upward. Emily and Quinn stood in the middle of it all, watching. We shot wide to capture the full scene because nothing else could have done that moment justice. It was one of those endings that stops you cold. This is the kind of private residence wedding Wisconsin couples dream about, and honestly, it’s one we’ll remember for a long time.

What are the benefits of having wedding photos at a private home?
The biggest benefit is that every corner of the property already means something to you. Your backyard, your porch, the tree you planted together. That personal connection shows up in the photos. Beyond that, at-home weddings tend to feel more relaxed, and relaxed couples always give us our best work.
How do you approach photography for an intimate backyard wedding?
Our approach is to stay close and blend in. Intimate weddings are full of quiet, candid moments that only happen when people forget there’s a camera nearby. We pay attention to the details that make the space feel personal, and we use the natural light and surroundings to tell your story without overproducing it.
We’re planning a wedding in the Madison area. How can we see more of your work?
Congratulations! We love working in the Madison area. For that reason, we encourage you to view our wedding photography portfolio. It showcases a wide range of celebrations, and we would be happy to share complete galleries that are relevant to your specific plans.
