A Bold, Beautiful Over the Vines Micro Wedding in Edgerton
A black lace gown and a pink suit. Purple hair and tattooed love letters on skin. This Over the Vines micro wedding was anything but traditional, and honestly, that’s exactly why we loved it. Everything about this couple’s fall evening in the vineyard felt intentional, personal, and completely their own.
Style That Told a Story Before the Vows Even Started
The details hit us the second we arrived. A black sequined gown hung on the door of the venue’s suite, catching the late afternoon sun. Next to it, a bold pink suit with a floral-lined lapel and a black bow tie. These two knew exactly who they were, and they dressed the part. As photographers, that kind of confidence is a gift. It means every frame already has energy before we even ask for a pose.
Their first look happened just outside the farmhouse, surrounded by hostas and blooming flowers. She reached for his shoulder, he turned, and the grin on his face said everything. From there, we let them be. The laughter came easy. The way they held each other felt natural and unhurried. These are the moments that make our job feel less like work and more like witnessing something real.
Handwritten Vows in the Vineyard at Sunset
The ceremony took place right in the vineyard rows as the sun started dropping. No large crowd, no bridal party lineup. Just the two of them, an officiant, and handwritten vows pulled from a small notebook. She laughed through half of hers. He got quiet during his. That contrast is what makes micro weddings so powerful to photograph. There’s nowhere to hide, and neither of them wanted to.
The light that evening was soft and warm, filtering through the grapevines and giving us this gorgeous, moody glow. We pulled in tight for the ring exchange and the kiss, then stepped back wide to capture the vineyard stretching out behind them. If you’re considering a fall micro-wedding in Wisconsin, this is the kind of setting that practically photographs itself.
Golden Hour Portraits and Late Evening Light
After the ceremony, we wandered. That’s one of our favorite things about a celebration this size. There’s no timeline pressure, no cocktail hour pulling the couple away. It’s just open space and open time. The zinnia garden behind the old stone barn was bursting with reds and pinks, and the color contrast against her black gown was a photographer’s dream. One overhead shot of them lying in the flowers together might be our favorite frame from the entire evening.
As the sky dimmed, we shifted to black and white for some of the later portraits. The textures at Over the Vines lend themselves to it beautifully, all weathered wood, rough stone, and soft garden edges. Their energy never dropped. They were playful one minute, intensely connected the next. That range gave us a gallery with real depth, not just pretty pictures but frames that actually feel like them.
This beautiful day was made possible by an incredible team of vendors:
