Golden Hour Romance: Eric & Kelsey’s Century Barn Wedding Photos

Pink cosmos up to your waist, golden light spilling across the hills, and a couple who could not stop laughing. That’s the short version of Eric and Kelsey’s late summer day in Mt Horeb. These Century Barn wedding photos are some of our all-time favorites. Honestly, the wildflower fields alone would have been enough to make this gallery unforgettable.

The Kind of Details That Set the Tone

Century Barn has this crisp white exterior with dark crossbeam accents. It photographs beautifully no matter where you point the camera. The girls popped champagne right in front of those barn doors. Meanwhile, the guys helped Eric with his tie just a few steps away. Sage bridesmaid dresses hung from a white pergola in the garden, catching the breeze. Every detail had a soft, lived-in quality that felt intentional without being fussy.

Kelsey’s bouquet was loaded with pink gerbera daisies, blush roses, succulents, and eucalyptus. Against those sage dresses, the palette just sang. Her BHLDN gown had beaded straps and a deep V-neckline that caught the light beautifully. One of our favorite frames from the morning is a tight portrait of Kelsey near a berry bush, eyes closed, completely at ease. That stillness right before the ceremony is something we always chase.

An Open-Sky Ceremony in the Fields

The ceremony took place outdoors in an open field. Rolling green hills stretched out in every direction. A triangular wooden arch covered in pink, white, and blush florals anchored the scene. Guests sat in white folding chairs on the grass. From a distance, the whole setup looked like something from a painting. We shot wide to show just how vast that landscape was. It’s the kind of frame that immediately tells you this isn’t a ballroom wedding.

Kelsey read her vows from her phone. Eric stood there locked in, completely present. If you’re considering a Mt Horeb barn venue for your own ceremony, picture this: no walls, no ceiling, just sky and farmland and the people you love most. That’s what Century Barn gives you. For us, it’s a photographer’s dream.

Golden Hour in the Wildflowers

This is the part of the day we’d been waiting for. Century Barn’s wildflower fields in late August are absolutely unreal. Pink cosmos, Queen Anne’s lace, sunflowers, and tall grasses stretched across the hillside. All of it was backlit by a sun dropping low, turning everything gold. The light was warm and diffused. It wrapped around Eric and Kelsey in a way that made every frame feel effortless.

Kelsey twirled in her dress among the cosmos, her hair catching the light. Eric pulled her close. They just existed in that moment together. No prompting needed. These two were completely relaxed, and honestly, that is when we do our best work. One standout image is a shot from behind as they walk hand in hand through the tall wildflowers toward the setting sun. It’s epic and intimate at the same time.

Their custom wooden sign reading “Eric & Kelsey 8.24.19” made for a sweet portrait, too. They leaned their foreheads together behind it. The fields blurred out soft and golden in the background. Moments like that don’t need direction. They just happen when the couple trusts us and the light cooperates.

Donuts, Dancing, and Barn Light

Inside the barn, string lights hung from the exposed timber beams. They gave the reception a warm, amber glow. Instead of a traditional cake, Eric and Kelsey went with a donut wall from Greenbush Bakery. Rustic wooden crates stacked high with every flavor you can imagine. Guests were absolutely here for it. The donut photo op became one of the most fun candid moments of the night.

Their first dance was quiet and close. We pulled in tight for those frames because that’s where the real emotion lives. The black-and-white conversion felt right for the mood. All warm smiles and slow swaying under the barn lights. That shift from golden-hour fields to late-night barn energy is something we live for.
