Navy and Mauve: Alayna & Caden’s Wedding at The Fields Reserve
Navy suits against mauve dresses against golden September light inside a dark-timber barn. Alayna and Caden’s navy and mauve wedding at The Fields Reserve in Stoughton WI was the kind of day where every color choice, every texture, every quiet moment just worked. Cheese curds from a food truck, s’mores by a fire pit, a groom who dips his bride like he means it. We loved every frame of this one.
Getting Ready Inside the Barn
Before anyone walked down an aisle, the details told us exactly what kind of day this was going to be. Caden’s navy suit jacket hung against a weathered wood fence. Brown leather shoes sat in the greenery like they belonged there. On a pink velvet ring box, wedding bands caught the light beside pearl earrings and a lace-edged hair comb. A custom wire hanger spelled out Alayna’s new name. All of it felt intentional without feeling fussy. We pulled in close on each piece because those textures deserved it.
Inside The Fields Reserve, Edison bulbs and exposed wood beams gave us this warm, amber light that we didn’t have to chase. Alayna’s mom helped her with her bracelet. Then there was this quiet beat where Alayna stood alone adjusting an earring, completely at ease. Behind her, bright white reception tables and chiavari chairs waited in rows. That contrast of dark timber walls and airy white decor is one of the things that makes this Stoughton venue so photogenic. If you want rustic warmth without giving up a clean, modern reception feel, this place delivers both in a single room.
A Ceremony Full of Warmth
The ceremony space had this cabin-like intimacy that hit you the second you walked in. Dark wood walls, draped white curtains, whiskey barrels flanking soft floral arrangements. Warm light spilled through the slats of the barn shutters. Honestly, that light gave us everything we needed. We shot wide a few times just to show the scale of the room, because the architecture deserved its own moment in the gallery.
Then came the first kiss. Caden dipped Alayna right there in the aisle, and the whole room erupted. We caught it. That kind of spontaneous, full-body joy is something we live for. It can’t be posed or recreated. You just have to be ready. From there, everyone spilled outside into the lush green grounds for portraits. The energy never slowed down.
Portraits and the Wedding Party
Mauve against green. That’s what we kept seeing during the wedding party portraits, and it never got old. The bridesmaids in their long, flowing dresses huddled together with their bouquets, laughing and leaning in like they’d done it a thousand times. On the other side, the groomsmen in matching navy suits gave us something more relaxed among the tall grasses. The natural surroundings behind this venue made group photos feel effortless. That is exactly how they should feel.
For couple portraits, we used Alayna’s long veil to frame the shot. The sheer fabric swept across the lens beautifully. One of our favorite frames shows the two of them close together, foreheads nearly touching, the veil catching the breeze. Another quiet moment came beside the barn’s exterior wall, where dark timber created a moody, cinematic backdrop. Then Caden swept Alayna into a kiss right in front of that same wall, her gown fanning across the gravel. That frame is one for the books. These two were completely relaxed in front of the camera. Honestly, that is when we do our best work.
Reception Details and a Fire Pit Finish
The reception space told you exactly who Alayna and Caden are as a couple. A hand-lettered sign directed guests to a card box. A vintage window frame displayed the seating chart with botanical illustrations. Instant cameras sat on a table for DIY guest snapshots. Pink dahlias, white anemones, and trailing eucalyptus anchored the centerpieces. S’mores kits wrapped in cellophane served as favors. Every piece felt cohesive without feeling overdone, and we documented all of it before the room filled up.
Outside, the Curd Girl food truck kept cocktail hour buzzing with Wisconsin’s finest cheese curds. The cake was simple and elegant with a “Mr & Mrs McLaughlin” topper, white frosting, and soft florals. As the night wound down, Alayna and Caden headed to the brick fire pit to roast marshmallows with their guests. Firelight on a wedding gown is always a good look. That shift from polished ceremony to late-night fire pit energy is something we live for. This navy and mauve wedding at The Fields Reserve in Stoughton WI had heart from start to finish.
