Emelia & Joseph’s Boho Summer Korth Park Wedding
Dried florals, macramé wrapped bouquets, and a linen suit the color of warm sand. Some weddings feel curated. This Korth Park wedding in Lake Mills, Wisconsin felt lived-in, like Emelia and Joseph just brought their actual life outside and let us photograph it. Hand-lettered wood signs, pampas grass catching the breeze off Rock Lake, mismatched earth tones on everyone in the bridal party. Nothing was forced. That’s the kind of day we love showing up to.
Getting Ready and the First Touch
Emelia’s morning was quiet in the best way. Soft window light, her mom close by helping with buttons, and a long tearful hug that we pulled in tight to capture. Those still, unhurried moments before a ceremony hold so much weight. One glance in the mirror. A deep breath. Then a hand squeeze that says everything without a word.
Instead of a traditional first look, these two chose a first touch. They stood on opposite sides of a doorway, fingers interlaced, talking softly without seeing each other. Joseph’s face shifted between laughter and tears in a matter of seconds. Honestly, first touches are one of our favorite things to photograph because the anticipation is so raw. You can feel the emotion building, and the camera picks up every bit of it.
A Lakeside Ceremony with a View
The ceremony site sat on a gentle rise with Rock Lake stretching out behind the altar, and we shot wide to let that whole scene breathe. A wooden cross draped in white fabric anchored the space. Pampas grass and dried blooms flanked both sides. Guests fanned themselves with hand-painted programs while the couple read vows that pulled laughter and tears out of the crowd in equal measure.
That mix of joy and tenderness defined the entire outdoor summer boho wedding. After the kiss, the bridal party gathered in the wildflower fields nearby. The bridesmaids wore mismatched earth-tone dresses in rose, sage, and burgundy. The groomsmen kept things relaxed in linen pants and leather suspenders. Everyone was loose, happy, and completely themselves. If you’re considering Korth Park for your own wedding, picture your people laughing in a coneflower field with the lake behind them. That’s the energy this place gives you.
Golden Hour in the Wildflowers
Once the bridal party wrapped up, we stole Emelia and Joseph away for couples portraits. The light was ridiculous. Late-summer sun poured through the oak trees and lit up the coneflowers, turning the whole field gold and pink. Joseph gave Emelia a piggyback ride. She kissed his cheek. They ran through the tall grass holding hands, laughing hard enough that we could hear them from fifty feet away. These two were completely relaxed, and honestly, that is when we do our best work.
This Lake Mills wedding gave us some of the most vibrant sunset portraits in our wedding photography portfolio. The color, the warmth between these two, the way that golden light caught the wildflowers in every direction. Every frame felt alive. Golden hour at Korth Park is something special, and Emelia and Joseph made the most of every single minute of it.
Pavilion Reception and Sparkler Send-Off
The reception moved under the park’s timber-frame pavilion, strung with bistro lights and decorated with cotton stems, Scripture signs, and floral table runners. Once those string lights kicked on at dusk, the whole pavilion glowed warm and golden. Guests mingled between long wooden tables while the couple cut a three-tier naked cake topped with a ceramic cross. The vibe was cozy, personal, and completely them.
After cake, toasts, and plenty of dancing, the night ended with a sparkler exit. Guests lined both sides of the path, and Emelia and Joseph kissed right in the middle of all that light before climbing into a car with “Just Married” scrawled across the back window. That shift from a soft lakeside ceremony to a late-night sparkler tunnel is something we live for. The whole day felt handmade, and this was the perfect way to close it out.
This beautiful day was made possible by an incredible team of vendors:
