Elizabeth & George: A Jewel-Toned Celebration at The Lageret

Deep reds, rich purples, and emerald green everywhere you looked. Elizabeth and George leaned all the way into a bold jewel-toned palette for their wedding at The Lageret. As The Lageret wedding photographers, we couldn’t have been happier about it. Those colors against warm brick and heavy timber beams gave us contrast that makes every frame feel alive. This was a day built on details, genuine emotion, and a crew of people who clearly love these two.

Getting Ready in That Gorgeous Bridal Suite

The Lageret’s bridal suite is one of our favorite spots in any Wisconsin venue. White brick walls, natural light through tall windows, and that rustic hanging ladder overhead. It’s clean and airy without feeling sterile. That meant we barely had to think about lighting. Elizabeth’s mom and a close friend helped her into a stunning lace gown. The room was full of quiet, purposeful energy. That always photographs well. If you’re considering this venue, the getting-ready space alone is worth it.

Meanwhile, the detail shots practically styled themselves. Black invitations with silver calligraphy sat on sliced wood rounds. Jewel-toned florals popped against the brick exterior. A suit hung from the timber rafters. Every element told us what kind of day this would be. We leaned into it from the very first frame.

A First Look Under Those Timber Trusses

Elizabeth and George chose a first look inside the main hall before guests arrived. Honestly, it was one of the most striking first looks we’ve photographed here. The ceremony space was empty except for rows of dark wooden chairs and a lush greenery installation climbing the brick wall. Natural light from the tall arched windows filled the room with a warm, golden glow. It bounced off the wood above and landed beautifully on both of them. George’s face when Elizabeth walked toward him was everything. Quiet, tender, completely present.

That massive hall can feel grand and intimate at the same time. That’s rare. It’s one of the things that keeps us coming back. The architecture does so much of the work. Our job becomes about staying close and catching the moments that matter most.

The Ceremony and Wedding Party

The ceremony carried all the warmth of the first look but multiplied it. Elizabeth came down the aisle on her father’s arm, grinning. Her bouquet was packed with deep red, magenta, and violet blooms. George stood at the front with groomsmen in sharp navy suits. You could feel the room tighten with emotion when the vows began. Climbing greenery framed the couple against the brick. The kiss at the end brought a cheer that echoed through those tall ceilings.

After the ceremony, the wedding party headed outside to a vine-covered stone wall behind the venue. Bridesmaids wore mixed emerald and forest green gowns. Those deep tones against fading fall leaves gave us a color story we didn’t have to manufacture. One of our favorite frames from the entire day is the whole group surrounding Elizabeth and George, arms up, laughing. That kind of energy can’t be posed. You just have to be ready for it.

Portraits That Made Us Stop and Pay Attention

Elizabeth and George gave us time for portraits. That gift showed in the results. The grounds around The Lageret have tucked-away spots with ivy, old stone walls, and overgrown greenery. They feel almost secret. Golden hour light filtered through the trees. It caught the lace detail on Elizabeth’s gown and warmed everything it touched. George held her bouquet in one hand and her hand in the other. They just walked and laughed and forgot we were there. That is when we do our best work.

Then came the portraits along the side of the building. Old stone and street-side light created something grittier, a little more urban. A red door became an unexpected backdrop for one of the most joyful close-ups of the day. This is the kind of Lageret wedding photography that reminds us why Stoughton delivers so much variety in the span of a few hundred feet.

Reception Details and the First Dance

Inside, the reception space was transformed. String lights, candlelight, and hand-lettered signage tied the whole day together. A calligraphed mirror seating chart sat near the entrance. Jewel-toned centerpieces with wine bottles completed each table. The donut display near the staircase was a crowd favorite. Warm Edison bulbs overhead made everything feel like a dinner party at the most beautiful warehouse you’ve ever been in.

The first dance reminded us why we have a thing for The Lageret. Warm light, exposed wood, guests pressed in close. Elizabeth and George held each other and swayed, completely lost in the moment. Everyone around them just watched and smiled. As The Lageret wedding photographers, we can tell you: that shift from polished ceremony to soft, candlelit reception energy is something we live for.

Frequently Asked Questions about The Lageret Weddings

The Lageret has exposed brick and massive timber beams. How do you handle lighting inside?

The venue’s string lights and industrial fixtures create a beautiful warm base. From there, we use off-camera lighting to complement that ambient glow rather than compete with it. The result is photos that feel true to the cozy, romantic atmosphere of the space while still being crisp and well lit.

How do you make jewel-toned colors look vibrant in photos?

Rich colors like deep red, emerald, and plum need careful attention to light and editing. During the day, we position subjects where natural or supplemental light brings out saturation in fabrics and florals. In post-production, we calibrate each image so those tones look as vivid and true to life as they did in person.
