Nicole & Robert’s Antler Basin Ranch Wedding in Granby, Colorado

There’s a frame from this Antler Basin Ranch wedding that we keep coming back to. Nicole had turned to Robert in the middle of an aspen grove, golden light catching her veil, and she just lost it. Not a polite laugh. Full shoulders-shaking, tears-coming, can’t-stop-if-she-tried laughter. We fired off fifteen frames in about three seconds, and every single one is gold. That moment tells you everything about this day in Granby, Colorado: unscripted, joyful, and completely, wonderfully real.

Getting Ready in the Cabin

The cabin on the ranch property had knotty pine walls that threw warm, honeyed light into every corner. Honestly, we barely needed to adjust a thing. Nicole’s lace gown was hanging against a dark arched wooden door, and the contrast practically composed itself. Robert’s blue tweed suit draped from a wrought-iron chandelier shaped like mountain trees, which is the kind of detail you just can’t make up. Custom embroidered shoes, handwritten vow books, a bouquet packed with roses and eucalyptus. Everything felt intentional. Everything felt like them.

Our approach with details like these is to shoot tight and close, letting the textures carry the frame. The stitching on those shoes. The ink on those vow pages. When a couple puts that much thought into the small things, you honor it by slowing down and not rushing past a single one.

A Mountaintop Ceremony (with a Little Rain)

Antler Basin Ranch sits high above Granby with views that stretch for miles across the valley. The ceremony space has this striking A-frame wooden arch, and the mountains roll out behind it in layers that honestly look unreal through a lens. If you’re considering this venue for your own wedding, just know: the backdrop does half the work. All you need is two people who mean it, and you’ve got a ceremony that photographs like a dream.

A light rain rolled in partway through the vows. Not a single person flinched. Guests popped umbrellas, Nicole and Robert kept their eyes locked on each other, and we kept shooting. Rain at a mountain ceremony strips away the polish and leaves only what’s real. We leaned into it, shooting wide to capture the full scope of that valley with clouds rolling low over the peaks. Those frames have a mood to them that sunshine alone could never give us.

Robert’s face when Nicole started walking toward him is burned into our memory. He was trying so hard to hold it together, grinning through everything, his best man right beside him doing the exact same thing. The crowd was small and tight, which made the energy feel concentrated and electric. After they kissed, the whole group erupted. That kind of pure, unfiltered happiness is the reason we do this work.

Portraits in the Aspens and Open Fields

After the ceremony, we pulled Nicole and Robert into the aspen grove. Those black-and-white trunks created this gorgeous natural frame, and the light was filtering through the canopy in soft, dappled pockets. One of our favorite things about mountain wedding photography is how the landscape carries so much of the visual weight. Put a couple who genuinely loves each other in the middle of it, step back, and let the scene breathe. That’s exactly what we did here.

From there, golden hour started to build. The sun dropped behind the peaks and threw warm amber light across the sagebrush and tall grass. Nicole kept laughing. Robert kept pulling her closer. Every direction we turned offered something new. That fence line with the rolling green hills behind it. The dirt road with sun flaring through the trees. These two were completely relaxed, and honestly, that is when we do our best work. Antler Basin Ranch wedding photos practically create themselves when the couple is this comfortable and the light is this generous.

A Tented Reception Full of Personality

Inside the reception tent, clear panels opened up to the mountains while exposed wooden beams and layered string lights kept everything feeling warm overhead. Dark wood farm tables were set with eucalyptus runners, amber glassware, and linen napkins. A greenery wall with blush roses anchored the sweetheart table, finished with a “Welcome to Our Adventure” sign that nailed the tone of the whole day. The space had so much character on its own. We pulled in close for the toasts because that is where the real moments live, the cracking voices and the laughter that catches people off guard.

The cake deserves its own paragraph. A white-to-pink ombré tier topped with custom cactus figurines labeled “Nicole & Robert, June 17, 2023.” Playful, sweet, and surrounded by succulents. Button Rock Bakery absolutely nailed the design. Meanwhile, McDevitt Taco Supply kept guests fueled with seriously good tacos. Tacos at a mountain wedding? Trust us, it works.

Glow Sticks and a Packed Dance Floor

Once Discosapien took over the music, the tent became something else entirely. Glow sticks came out. Neon foam sticks were waving overhead. Every single person was on the floor. Nicole and Robert were right in the center of it, holding each other and laughing while the crowd surged around them. That shift from polished mountaintop ceremony to late-night glow-stick chaos is something we live for. It shows the full range of who a couple really is. We dropped our shutter speed, let the color blur and streak, and came away with frames that feel exactly the way that tent felt: loose, loud, and completely alive.
