Cold Air, Warm Light: A Sunset Winter Engagement Session
The temperature was somewhere around fifteen degrees. These two could not have cared less. Their sunset winter engagement session at Token Creek Park in DeForest gave us golden light that only happens when the sun barely clears the treeline. Low, warm, wrapping around everything it touches. We kept moving, they kept laughing, and the cold pushed them closer together in every frame.
Why We Love Winter Sessions at Token Creek
Winter engagement sessions don’t get enough credit. The parks are empty. The light sits low all afternoon. You get this golden glow that summer only offers for about twenty minutes. Token Creek’s wide fields and boardwalk trails catch every bit of it. We shot wide through the dried meadow grass, letting the landscape breathe. Then we pulled in tight when these two slowed down and leaned into each other.
Cold air and warm light do something to a session. People stop posing. They hold on tighter, walk a little closer, forget we’re even there. Honestly, that is when we do our best work. The boardwalk gave us leading lines straight into the sunset. The frozen pond reflected everything back. A photographer’s dream of a location in January.
