New Baby, New Favorites: A Boho Newborn Session
Tiny fingers curled, soft knit wraps, and the quietest kind of morning. This boho newborn session at our Garver Feed Mill studio was exactly the kind of slow, intentional work we love most.
Letting the Baby Lead
We keep our studio warm for a reason. Newborns set the pace, and we follow. If this little one needed to eat, we paused. If they drifted off mid-pose, even better. Some of the best frames from this session happened in those in-between moments when nothing was forced and everything was calm.
The earthy, boho styling brought together woven baskets, natural textures, and muted tones that let the baby be the entire focus. We pulled in tight on the details (those little fingers, that soft skin) because those are the things parents forget first and miss most.
And then there’s the moment mom stepped in. She draped a lace shawl over her shoulders, leaned in, and kissed her baby’s forehead. That frame is the one. We could feel it behind the camera. Parents are always welcome in front of our lens during newborn sessions, and honestly, those images tend to be the ones families come back to again and again.
Right at the end, this little one opened their eyes wide and just looked at us. No fussing, no squirming. Just wide, curious eyes from inside a wicker basket. We love the sleeping shots, but a wide-awake newborn staring right into the lens? That’s a gift.
Our Garver Feed Mill studio was built with sessions like this in mind. Controlled light, cozy temperature, and everything we need within arm’s reach so we never have to break the rhythm. If you’re expecting and picturing something soft, natural, and unhurried, this is exactly what it looks like.
What should we expect during a newborn session at your Garver Feed Mill studio?
We keep the studio warm, move slowly, and let the baby set the schedule. Sessions typically last one to two hours depending on feeding and sleep cycles. We have wraps, baskets, and props on hand so you don’t need to bring a thing.
When is the best time to book a newborn session with Twig & Olive?
We recommend booking during your second or third trimester so we can reserve a date within the first two weeks after your baby arrives. That early window is ideal for those sleepy, curled-up poses. Reach out any time and we’ll get you on the calendar.
