Michele & Mark’s Cranberry & Blush Wedding at The Eloise
Cranberry, blush, and gold everywhere you looked. Michele and Mark built their entire The Eloise wedding Madison celebration around that color story, and the result was one of the most cohesive days we’ve ever photographed. From a hand-painted welcome sign to deep burgundy napkins tucked into gold-rimmed place settings, every detail felt like it belonged. These two were relaxed, genuinely happy, and completely present with each other. Honestly, that is when we do our best work.
Details Worth Lingering On
Detail shots for this wedding were something else. Michele and Mark had custom wooden “M&M” tokens as favors, a bouquet loaded with deep cranberry roses alongside soft blush and white blooms, and lace flats nestled in the grass outside. Their welcome sign was hand-lettered with watercolor florals matching the rest of the palette perfectly. Even the rings felt intentional, placed on a broad green leaf in the garden. Every piece told the same story. Our job was to slow down and let those textures speak.
As a venue, The Eloise gave us so much to work with. That clean white exterior with its dark peaked roofline photographs beautifully. Surrounding grounds are lush in mid-May. If you’re considering this spot, know that the outdoor space delivers for both ceremony backdrops and portrait variety.
First Look and the Ceremony
Michele and Mark did their first look right outside the venue, beside the white siding in warm afternoon sun. Mark turned around, saw Michele in her lace gown, and his whole face softened. It was quiet and unhurried. Even with a camera nearby, the moment felt private. Light was hitting at a low angle, carving out beautiful dimension. We stayed tight on their faces for most of it.
From there, the ceremony unfolded on a sprawling lawn with rows of white chairs and a wooden arch draped in blush fabric. Cranberry and ivory florals spilled off every edge. Their officiant had everyone laughing, and you could see Michele and Mark stealing grins at each other throughout. As they walked back up the aisle together, the whole crowd erupted. That energy carried straight into the rest of the evening.
Portraits, the Wedding Party, and Golden Hour
This bridal party was a blast. Bridesmaids wore a mix of mauve and cranberry tones. Groomsmen showed up in dark suits with pink ties. All of them lined up in front of those big grid windows on the side of The Eloise, and the reflection of string lights behind the glass gave us a gorgeous glow in the background. One of our favorite frames from the day came from that spot: a candid of the whole group laughing while Michele and Mark kissed.
For couple portraits, we pulled Michele and Mark into the wooded area behind the venue and then out to a clearing where wild lilacs were blooming. Purple against her white gown and his black suit? A photographer’s dream. Overcast sky gave us soft, even light, so nothing was harsh. Skin tones looked incredible. Every color in the bouquet popped. Those are the conditions we hope for.
A Reception That Glowed
Walking into the reception hall after it had been fully styled was one of those stop-in-your-tracks moments. Gold chiavari chairs. Cranberry linens. Floral centerpieces spilling over gold-framed table numbers. Iron chandeliers hung from the vaulted ceiling, and tall windows along the peak wall let in the last of the daylight. We shot wide to take it all in. This is the kind of The Eloise wedding Madison couples book us for, and it’s easy to see why.
Michele and Mark’s cake was elegant and simple: three tiers of white buttercream with gold “M&M” lettering and a cluster of blush roses. Their head table stretched long with ivory linens, burgundy napkins, and gold flatware. Every angle had something worth capturing. We made sure to get the room before guests filled it and again once the party was in full swing.
For the first dance, amber uplighting warmed the walls while blue evening sky glowed through the windows behind them. Guests circled around, and the room felt both grand and intimate at once. That shift from polished ceremony to late-night party energy is something we live for. Michele and Mark’s crew delivered on every level.

What makes The Eloise a great venue for wedding photography?
The Eloise gives photographers a rare combination of indoor elegance and outdoor variety. Its reception hall has vaulted ceilings, iron chandeliers, and a wall of tall windows that let in beautiful natural light. Outside, you get open lawn for ceremonies, wooded trails for intimate portraits, and a clean white exterior as a modern backdrop. For that reason, it’s one of our favorite venues near Madison.
Can you do outdoor portraits at The Eloise even if the weather is overcast?
Absolutely. Overcast skies are actually ideal for portrait photography because the light is soft and even. The Eloise property has wooded areas, open fields, and garden spaces that all look stunning under cloud cover. Some of our best work at this venue has come on overcast spring days when bouquet and clothing colors really pop.
We’re planning a wedding in the Madison area. How can we see more of your work?
Congratulations! We love working in the Madison area. For that reason, we encourage you to view our wedding photography portfolio. It showcases a wide range of celebrations, and we would be happy to share complete galleries that are relevant to your specific plans.
