Candid and Connected: A Family Newborn Session
Big sister had her own plan. She wanted to hold the baby, pick every iris in sight, and sprint through the tall grass before circling back to do it all over again. This family newborn session at Token Creek Park had that kind of energy from the very first frame, and we loved every second of it.
Wildflowers, Warm Light, and Zero Posing
Token Creek has these pockets of wildflowers that look curated but are completely wild. We found a patch of irises near the tree line, set the baby’s basket right in the middle, and the scene practically built itself. The light was soft gold filtering through the canopy, and we barely had to move to find the right angle. Sometimes a location just hands you everything.
The in-between moments stole this gallery. A toddler carefully cradling her little sister. Dad pressing a quiet kiss to a tiny forehead. None of it was directed. We just stayed close, kept shooting, and let the family be a family. If you’re considering family photography in DeForest, summer evenings at Token Creek give you wildflower backdrops you couldn’t stage if you tried.
We pulled in tight for the newborn details and went wide for the family shots across the meadow. That range matters. Years from now, you want to remember the tiny fingers and the full scene at the same time. These four were relaxed, present, and completely themselves. That is when we do our best work.
When is the best time for a family newborn session at Token Creek Park?
Late spring through midsummer is ideal. The wildflowers are blooming, the evenings are long, and the golden light about an hour before sunset is exactly what we look for.
