Kiley & Dave’s Barn at The Bog Fall Wedding in Saukville
Jewel tones, pampas grass, and golden hour light that just wouldn’t quit. Kiley and Dave’s Barn at The Bog fall wedding had this effortless warmth from the moment we walked in. It never let up. From the rich, moody florals to the way late August sunlight flooded the surrounding fields, everything felt intentional without being overdone. These two were completely relaxed, and honestly, that is when we do our best work.
Details Worth Lingering On
The getting-ready spaces inside The Barn at The Bog have beautiful natural wood walls. The light coming through those narrow windows gave us everything we needed. Kiley’s bridesmaids showed up in mismatched dresses ranging from dusty rose to deep burgundy velvet. That palette against warm cedar? A photographer’s dream. Meanwhile, Dave’s dad was adjusting his tie with this focused concentration. It made for one of our favorite quiet moments of the morning.
The bouquet alone deserves its own paragraph. Bloom Lovely Farm put together this incredible arrangement of dahlias, pampas grass, eucalyptus, and deep red accents. It felt like fall in a single handful. The thing photographed beautifully in every light, from the soft indoor tones of the prep room to the blazing gold of sunset.
First Look and the Fields
Kiley and Dave opted for a first look in the garden area behind the venue. Tall trees and wild late-summer growth surrounded them on every side. The chemistry between these two was obvious right away. Dave reached for her hands, and Kiley just lit up. Those are the frames that end up on the wall. From there, we moved into wedding party portraits. The groomsmen kept things loose. The bridesmaids brought gorgeous energy, bouquets in hand, walking through the tall grass like they owned the place.
One thing that made this group stand out: the flower girls. Two little ones stole the show during portraits, grinning at each other and mugging for the camera. If you’re planning a fall wedding at The Barn at The Bog and you have kids in the wedding party, trust us. Build in extra time for those candid moments. They’re gold.
The Outdoor Ceremony
The ceremony site sits on a slight rise with wooden pew-style benches and a gorgeous arch draped in mauve fabric. Florals spilled over every edge. Bloom Lovely went all in on pampas grass, roses, and trailing greenery, and it looked stunning against the open Wisconsin sky. Gabriel’s Horns provided live ceremony music. That rich, resonant sound added a layer you could feel in your chest.
Kiley came down the aisle on her dad’s arm, grinning the whole way. Dave’s face when he saw her told us everything. We shot wide to capture the full setting, then pulled in tight for the vows and the first kiss under that arch. The couple also incorporated a tree-planting ceremony with a small olive tree. It was a personal touch we hadn’t seen before, and it added real meaning to an already emotional moment.
Golden Hour in the Tall Grass
This is the part of the day we live for. After the ceremony, we pulled Kiley and Dave into the fields for sunset portraits. Late August in Saukville delivers this thick, amber light that wraps around everything it touches. The tall grasses were catching it perfectly. All we had to do was let these two be themselves. Kiley laughed the entire time. Dave kept pulling her close. The frames practically made themselves.
If you’re considering this venue for your own autumn Barn at The Bog wedding, plan your timeline so you can be in those fields right as the sun drops. The surrounding landscape gives you open meadows, a winding path, and treelines that filter the light beautifully. It’s the kind of setting that turns good portraits into unforgettable ones.
Reception Under the String Lights
Inside the barn, the reception space was warm and layered. String lights stretched across the exposed beams overhead. Tables were set with dusty rose runners, burgundy taper candles, and copper chargers. Kiley and Dave had marquee “K&D” letters glowing against the wood wall. It gave the whole room this inviting, personal feel. The dessert table featured a cheesecake topped with pecans alongside smaller treats from City Market.
That shift from the golden outdoor ceremony to the intimate glow of the barn reception is something we love about this venue. The first dance, lit by string lights and a warm spotlight, had this dreamy quality. Guests watched from cross-back chairs. The whole room felt close and connected. This is the kind of Saukville fall wedding photography that reminds us why we love barn venues done right. To see more celebrations like this one, check out our wedding photography portfolio.

What are the best spots for golden hour portraits at The Barn at The Bog?
The open fields next to the ceremony space are the clear winner. Tall grasses catch that low late-summer light perfectly. A winding gravel path nearby gives you variety, and a tree line on the western edge filters the sun beautifully. You get warm backlighting without harsh glare. Plan your portrait session for about an hour before sunset and you’ll have plenty of time to explore.
What makes The Barn at The Bog a great venue for fall weddings?
The mix of indoor and outdoor spaces works especially well in fall. Natural growth around the ceremony site shifts into warm tones as autumn progresses. Inside, the barn has exposed beams, string lights, and warm wood walls that photograph beautifully year-round. Late August through October brings some of the best light we see all year in this part of Wisconsin.
