Chasing the Light: A Lush Mountain Family Session

Three redheaded siblings, blooming rhododendrons, and the kind of light that makes you slow down and breathe. This lush mountain family session on the Cooper Ridge Nature Trail in Beaverton gave us everything we could ask for.

Let Them Run

We tell every family the same thing before a session: don’t worry about keeping the kids still. The trail did exactly what we hoped. It gave these three room to explore, hold hands, and spin in circles while the canopy filtered late afternoon sun into something soft and golden.

That moment between the two sisters stopped us. The older one leaned in for a kiss on the cheek, and the little one just lit up. No prompting. No posing. We pulled in tight and let the background go soft. Nothing else mattered in that frame. Honestly, this is the kind of image that reminds us why we do what we do.

Then the dancing started. The two older girls took off down the path, spinning and laughing. Mom and Dad hung back with the littlest one and just watched. That contrast is something we live for: kids in full motion, parents soaking it in. We shot wide to get the whole scene, rhododendrons and all.

If you’re considering a Beaverton family session on this trail, go in the early evening. The tree cover keeps the light even. The rhododendrons add color without competing with your family. It’s a photographer’s dream location. Take a look at more of our family photography work to see what we mean.
