Hello, Little One: A May Studio Newborn Session

Three poses in, and this little girl hadn’t so much as flinched. Cream wraps, rust tones, floral headbands, a woven basket she sank right into. This May studio newborn session was one of those mornings where everything just clicked. We kept the studio warm, the lighting soft, and let her sleep through every setup.

Big Brother Stole the Show

Sibling shots are always a wild card. Sometimes you get a two-year-old who wants nothing to do with the baby. Other times you get a big brother who leans in, grins, and looks at his little sister like she’s the best thing ever. We got the second version. He was gentle, curious, and completely smitten. We pulled in tight for that moment because you can’t stage that kind of expression.

Our studio inside Garver Feed Mill gives us full control over light and temperature. That matters more than most people realize with newborns. Babies set the pace, and a calm, consistent environment keeps them settled. That’s when we get the kind of images families come back to again and again. Controlled light also lets us shift between setups without losing the mood. It’s a flexibility we rely on for every newborn session we photograph.

The final setup was a rustic wooden dough bowl with a blush wrap and a tiny rosette headband. Simple, classic, and exactly the kind of detail that looks effortless but takes care to get right. This family walked away with a gallery covering every angle: posed portraits, sibling connection, quiet details that disappear so fast. That range is what we love about studio work. Nothing rushed. Nothing forced. Just a warm room and a sleeping baby.
