Kelsey & Brad’s Sage Green & Pink Wedding at The Oaks Golf Course

Some weddings just click from the very first frame. Kelsey and Brad’s The Oaks Golf Course wedding in Cottage Grove had sage green bridesmaids dresses, white roses everywhere, and a sunset that stopped us mid-conversation. The whole day carried this soft, romantic energy that matched the rolling greens perfectly. From an outdoor ceremony under a handmade arbor to a string-lit tent reception, we knew early on this gallery was going to be something special.

Getting Ready at The Oaks

The morning was quiet in the best way. Brad’s groomsman was adjusting his bow tie when we walked in. His mom pinned on a boutonniere outside the clubhouse with this look on her face that said everything. Down the hall, Kelsey’s mom was helping her into a sleek, deep-V gown in a room filled with warm natural light. We barely had to direct anything. The emotion was just there.

Their details were understated and personal. White rose boutonnieres rested on stone. A calligraphy ceremony program nestled among bright pink tulips. A wooden name sign sat surrounded by eucalyptus. One of our favorite frames from the morning was Kelsey putting in her earrings with the softest expression. We pulled in close for that one. Those unposed, in-between seconds are always the images couples come back to years later.

An Outdoor Ceremony on the Greens

Kelsey and Brad exchanged vows under a rustic wooden arbor draped with white fabric and blush accents. Rows of white chairs fanned out toward the clubhouse. The ceremony overlooked the The Oaks Golf Course greens, and we shot wide to take in the full scope. That backdrop deserved the room. A unity box ceremony added a meaningful touch as they sealed letters and mementos at the altar.

The wide-open sky behind the arbor gave the whole scene a cinematic quality. After the officiant introduced them as husband and wife, Brad pulled Kelsey in for a kiss that had the entire crowd on their feet. That energy carried straight into wedding party portraits. Honestly, those are the transitions we love most. When everyone is still riding that high, the camera catches something different.

Portraits on the Bridges and Fairways

After the ceremony, we loaded Kelsey and Brad onto a golf cart and headed out to explore the course. The wooden footbridges were a standout. Deep green trees and soft overcast light created this moody, intimate backdrop. Brad held Kelsey close on the railing while her veil caught the breeze. Those quiet frames turned into some of the day’s most powerful images. They took almost no direction at all. These two were completely relaxed, and that is when we do our best work.

Then the sky put on a show. As evening rolled in, a vibrant pink and purple sunset stretched across the fairway. We chased it. Brad spun Kelsey on the open grass and dipped her low against the blazing horizon. The two of them laughed through every frame. This is the kind of The Oaks Golf Course wedding photography that reminds us why we love Cottage Grove. Their final silhouette portrait, foreheads touching against deep magenta, capped the night perfectly.

A Tented Reception Full of Personal Touches

Inside the tented pavilion, pink napkins, white roses, and eucalyptus runners lined every table. Calligraphy escort cards guided guests to their seats. A display of framed family photos honored loved ones near the head table. The whole space felt warm and personal without being overdone. String lights overhead gave us this gorgeous, even glow that made every candid look like a portrait. We barely touched our flashes all night.

Their cake was a two-tier beauty topped with a gold “Mr & Mrs Gentert” topper, accented with dark eucalyptus leaves. After cutting it together under those string lights, Kelsey and Brad moved into their first dance. A custom neon sign reading “The Genterts” glowed behind them as they kissed on the dance floor. If you’re considering a golf course wedding near Madison, this is what it can look like. Every detail reflected who they actually are. Not overdone, not underdone. Just right.
