Will & Kaci: A Vineyard Wedding at Over the Vines
Some weddings you remember for the quiet, romantic moments. This one? Cowboy hats, a poker game that nearly brought the house down, and golden hour light pouring through grapevines like something out of a dream. Will and Kaci’s Over the Vines wedding photography gave us all of it, and we loved every second. Their May celebration in Edgerton, WI was rustic without trying too hard, emotional without being heavy, and absolutely full of personality.
Getting Ready at a Stone Barn with Character
The old stone buildings at Over the Vines are a photographer’s gift. Weathered limestone, turquoise paint peeling off a barn door, red-trimmed windows catching soft morning light. Every surface has texture, and that means every detail shot practically composes itself. Kaci’s lace gown hung from that turquoise door, and the contrast alone was enough to make us pause. Nearby, Will’s navy jacket rested against a limestone wall. A white cowboy hat sat on a ledge. Burgundy accents, blush and ivory florals, a travel-themed invitation suite. The details told their story before either of them said a word.
Their first look happened just outside the barn, and honestly, it set the tone for the entire day. Kaci walked up behind Will, tapped his shoulder, and his grin when he turned around was instant. No hesitation, no nerves. Just pure joy. From there, the two moved through portraits in front of the red barn siding like nobody else existed. They laughed, held hands, leaned into each other. We barely had to direct them. That kind of ease between a couple is when we do our best work, and these two gave us that from the very first frame.
A Ceremony Between the Vines
Picture a grassy aisle flanked by rows of grapevines, a massive shade tree rising behind a floral-covered arbor, and pink and white blooms cascading down the wooden arch. If you’re considering Over the Vines for your own wedding, know that the ceremony space alone is worth the visit. We shot wide to capture the full scope of it, because the landscape deserves that kind of framing. Bridesmaids in deep burgundy lined one side. Groomsmen in charcoal stood on the other. A rustic easel near the entrance read “Pick a seat, either side. You are loved by both the groom and bride.”
One of our favorite moments came right after the vows. The entire wedding party gathered for a group shot, and Will pulled Kaci in for a kiss while everyone erupted around them. Then the couple dropped to their knees to greet their dog, who showed up in a matching burgundy bow tie and absolutely stole the show. We pulled in close for that one. The expressions on their faces were everything.
Golden Hour Portraits in the Vineyard
Late afternoon light at this Wisconsin vineyard was exactly what we had been hoping for all day. Warm, soft, low enough to pour through the vine rows like honey. The couple walked hand in hand between the green leaves while the sky opened up behind them. Will’s cowboy hat caught the rim light beautifully. Kaci’s bouquet of blush roses matched the fading sun. We barely touched the shutter settings. The vineyard just gave us everything.
These are the portraits we live for. No posing prompts, no forced smiles. Just two people completely at ease in a landscape that feels both grand and intimate at the same time. The final shot of the series, where Kaci hides behind Will’s hat for a kiss, might be one of our favorites from the entire season. That kind of moment doesn’t come from a shot list. It comes from a couple who trusts you enough to just be themselves.
A Barn Reception Full of Personality
Inside the barn, every corner told a story. A world map seating chart read “You mean the world to us.” A heart-shaped drop box collected wooden tokens from guests. Polaroid photos lined a vintage frame on the wall, and string lights draped across the exposed timber beams overhead. The travel theme wove through everything without feeling overdone. It felt personal, intentional, like Will and Kaci had placed every piece themselves.
After dinner and a gorgeous single-tier cake topped with fresh garden roses, the real party kicked off. Will, Kaci, and their friends crowded around a card table for the most enthusiastic round of poker we have ever photographed. Cash was flying. Cowboy hats were tipping. The energy in that room was electric. It ended, naturally, with a kiss across the table. That shift from a heartfelt ceremony in the vines to a full-blown card game in a barn is something we live for. Unscripted, unpredictable, completely them. That kind of joy is what makes Over the Vines wedding photography so fun to deliver.

What makes Over the Vines a great venue for wedding photos?
Over the Vines offers a rare combination of textures and landscapes in one property. The vineyard rows create beautiful leading lines for portraits. The rustic stone and wood buildings add warmth and character to detail shots. Open countryside and large shade trees also give us plenty of variety throughout the day.
What is your advice for couples planning a vineyard wedding?
Build your timeline around the best light. For a vineyard venue, schedule portraits during the golden hour before sunset. That creates the most romantic, glowing images among the vines. Also, trust the natural beauty of the setting. Simple, elegant decor often works best so the landscape can truly shine.
