Samantha & Brian’s Blush and Ivory Romy’s Banquet Hall Wedding
Blush boutonnieres on river stones. A lace gown hanging against dark window panes. A boxer dog wearing a floral collar and absolutely stealing the show. Samantha and Brian’s Romy’s Banquet Hall wedding was full of details that made us stop and reach for the camera before we even finished setting up. Their summer day in Appleton had this relaxed, joyful energy from the very first frame. We loved every minute of it.
Getting Ready with the Good Light
The getting-ready space had warm, golden window light pouring in from one side. That kind of light is a gift. Samantha’s bridesmaids helped her into her lace gown while laughing the whole time. We stayed close with a longer lens to catch the quiet details: earrings going on, a smile while she slipped into her shoes. Meanwhile, Brian was across the room grinning while a groomsman helped him figure out his tie. Those moments are small, but they set the tone for everything that follows.
One of our favorite things about shooting details is finding the right backdrop. Their invitation suite, the bouquet, Brian’s watch, a jeweled garter: we laid everything out against the green hedges and river rock outside. Rich, earthy textures played beautifully against the blush and ivory palette.
A St. Peter Lutheran Church Ceremony Worth the Drive
St. Peter Lutheran Church has tall ceilings, clean lines, and a backlit cross at the altar that photographs like a dream. We shot wide from the back of the aisle during the processional, capturing the full scope of the sanctuary. Then we moved in close for the ring exchange. Brian’s face during the vows was pure, unfiltered happiness. Samantha looked right at him like nobody else was in the room. That chemistry is something we can’t manufacture. Honestly, it’s the reason certain galleries just sing.
If you’re considering a church ceremony in the Fox Valley, St. Peter gives you height, warmth, and a gorgeous natural focal point. Light filtering through those upper windows keeps everything soft and flattering without any extra work on our end.
Portraits, a Party Bus, and One Very Good Dog
After the ceremony, the whole wedding party piled onto a party bus and headed to a nearby park. The energy was loud and fun. Bridesmaids in blush, groomsmen in light gray, and everybody cracking up while Samantha and Brian kissed in the middle of the group. That shot with the whole crew leaning in? It happened fast, and it’s one of our favorites from the day.
Then their boxer showed up. Full floral collar, tail going nonstop, completely unbothered by the camera. Pets at weddings are always a gamble, but this dog was a natural. We got down low, let the pup run toward us, and captured a close-up portrait that honestly might be the best headshot in the entire gallery. Samantha and Brian knelt down in the wildflowers with their dog between them. The whole scene felt like summer in Wisconsin bottled up in one frame.
For the couple’s portraits, we found a wooden bridge overlooking a pond. Dappled light, deep green trees, lily pads on the water. Samantha and Brian sat together on the edge of the dock, and we pulled back to let the landscape do the work. Later, we had them lie on a vintage quilt in the wildflowers for an overhead shot. They were completely relaxed. That is when we do our best work.
The Romy’s Banquet Hall Reception
Back at Romy’s, the reception space was glowing. String lights stretched across the ceiling. A head table draped in white sat beneath soft twinkle lights. Centerpieces alternated between white hydrangeas and tall glass vases with single pink roses submerged inside. Every corner felt warm and intimate. The blush and ivory palette tied each detail together without feeling overdone.
The first dance was the kind of moment we live for. Warm overhead string lights, a hardwood dance floor, and two people completely locked in on each other. Samantha looked up at Brian with this expression that said everything. The room around them blurred into bokeh, and we let the moment breathe. That shift from a sunlit outdoor portrait session to a golden, candlelit dance floor? It’s something we never tire of as Appleton WI wedding photographers. This Romy’s Banquet Hall wedding delivered it perfectly.

What makes Romy’s Banquet Hall a great choice for a wedding reception?
Romy’s has a classic, welcoming feel that works well for couples who want a warm reception space without a lot of fuss. The room is spacious enough for large guest counts. String lights overhead give the space a soft glow that photographs beautifully. The hardwood dance floor is generous, and the staff handles catering in-house, which simplifies logistics for couples planning their day.
How do you photograph a church ceremony at St. Peter Lutheran?
St. Peter Lutheran Church in Appleton has high ceilings and a gorgeous backlit cross at the altar. During the ceremony, we typically shoot wide from the aisle to capture the full sanctuary. Then we move closer for the vows and ring exchange. The natural light from the upper windows is soft and flattering, so we rely on it heavily rather than introducing flash. That keeps the mood reverent and natural.
We’re planning a wedding in the Appleton area. How can we see more of your work?
