The Heart of It All: Spring Wildflowers Family Session

Mustard flowers as far as we could see, two girls who could not stop giggling, and rolling green hills that made the whole frame feel alive. This spring wildflowers family session at Chino Hills State Park was one of those evenings where everything just clicked.

Let Them Run

We always tell families to just be themselves. Play, laugh, chase each other through the flowers. That’s exactly what happened here, and the camera loved every second of it. The girls took off into the mustard blooms like they owned the place, and honestly, they kind of did.

We timed this session for golden hour, and it paid off. The light at Chino Hills that evening was warm and low, wrapping around this family in a way that made our job easy. We shot wide to pull those green rolling hills into every frame, then came in close when the tickle fights started. That shift between landscape and intimacy is something we live for in family photography.

And then there was the dog. Right in the middle of the cuddle pile, completely unfazed. Some of our favorite frames from this spring wildflowers family session came from the moments nobody was trying to pose. A daughter picking flowers on her own. Mom squeezing both girls tight on the hillside. The whole family walking hand in hand through the field like it was just another Tuesday.

If you’re considering Chino Hills State Park for your family photos, spring is the move. The wildflowers turn those hills into something out of a painting, and the trails give you room to spread out and explore. It’s the kind of location where kids can be kids and every direction you point the camera looks incredible.
