Robert & Anna: A Burgundy and Champagne Wedding at The Madison Club

Burgundy roses against gold charger plates. Candlelight catching stained glass from floor to ceiling. Three teenage boys cracking each other up while their dad tries to get a bow tie straight. Robert and Anna’s wedding had this richness to it. Not just in the color palette, but in the way every moment felt full. These The Madison Club wedding photos are some of our favorites. The whole day moved between sacred tradition and downtown elegance without ever losing its warmth.

Getting Ready at Bethel Lutheran

Robert was in a book-lined study at Bethel Lutheran Church, standing with his son. The two of them worked through the mechanics of a bow tie together. Nobody was performing for the camera. It was just a dad being a dad. Honestly, that is exactly the kind of moment we hope for early in a wedding day. Across the hall, Anna’s mother fastened the buttons on a lace gown. Soft light spilled through a stained glass window beside them. Every part of that morning had this quiet intentionality to it.

Detail shots gave us a moody, jewel-toned palette to work with, and we leaned all the way in. Black dress shoes resting on a red leather chair. A burgundy and cream bouquet set against a wooden step. Sparkling heels nestled into fallen leaves just outside the church doors. Robert’s suit hung against shelves of old hardcovers, and the texture in that frame alone could carry a gallery. Nothing felt staged. Everything felt like Robert and Anna.

A Candlelit Ceremony Full of Family

Bethel Lutheran is one of those churches where you walk in and immediately feel small. Soaring arched ceilings, vivid stained glass on every side, rows of candles lining the altar. We shot wide early on because the architecture deserved it. The light pouring through those panels gave us everything we needed. A sign near the entrance read “Welcome to Our Love Story” with Robert and Anna’s names below. Their sons stood at the doors holding programs, grinning like they owned the place.

The ceremony hit hard. Robert waited near the front with his hands clasped, and when Anna appeared in the aisle, his whole face changed. Pure tenderness. Their children stood beside them at the altar during the vows, holding unity candles. That image of the entire family gathered in candlelight is one of our favorites from the whole day. If you’re considering a ceremony at Bethel Lutheran, know that the space does so much of the heavy lifting. Reverence is built into every corner of that room.

Portraits in the Autumn Air

After the ceremony, Robert and Anna pulled their kids together for portraits outside. Their boys wore black suits with deep burgundy vests and bow ties. Girls in matching burgundy dresses carried bouquets of blush and cream roses. One of the best frames came when Robert kissed Anna and all six kids crowded in around them, laughing and leaning close. That kind of chaos is a gift when you know it’s coming.

From there, we walked through downtown Madison for couples portraits. Late autumn light filtered through golden leaves overhead. Anna had a white fur wrap against the cool air, and these two held hands like nobody else was around. They were completely relaxed. That is when we do our best work. Their warmth carried into every frame and straight through the rest of the evening.

Classic Elegance Inside The Madison Club

Walking into The Madison Club felt like stepping into another era entirely. That grand spiral staircase, lined with patterned wallpaper and brass sconces, is a photographer’s dream. Anna’s lace train cascading down the curved steps. Robert wrapping his arms around her near the landing. A bird’s-eye view from the top of the spiral, looking straight down to the checkered marble floor. We could have spent hours there and not run out of angles.

The reception room matched every bit of that energy. Gold chargers, black napkins with calligraphy name cards, centerpieces mixing deep red roses with cream blooms. Candles and burgundy florals lined the mantel beneath a wallpaper mural of birds and branches. At the center of it all sat a sweetheart table framed by twinkling branch arrangements. A cascading floral display graced its base. Every detail reinforced the burgundy and champagne wedding palette Robert and Anna had built. It all photographed beautifully under the club’s warm interior light.

Cake, Dancing, and a Night to Remember

The three-tiered cake was a showstopper. White fondant fading into brushed gold at the base of each tier, with burgundy accents and a single red rose on top. Robert and Anna cut into it while guests crowded close. The room had that particular buzz that only happens when every person genuinely wants to be there. We pulled in tight for those moments because the expressions told the full story.

Their first dance brought the whole evening into focus. Purple uplighting washed across the ballroom walls while Jukebox Bandstand kept the energy rolling. Anna reached up and touched Robert’s face, and for a second the packed room seemed to disappear. Looking back through these The Madison Club wedding photos, that quiet gesture might be the one that says the most. That shift from candlelit ceremony to late-night celebration is something we live for, and Robert and Anna gave us both in full.

Frequently Asked Questions about Madison Club Weddings

What are the best indoor photo spots at The Madison Club?

The grand spiral staircase is the standout location. Its curved railing, patterned wallpaper, and checkered marble floor create dramatic portrait opportunities from multiple angles. Beyond the staircase, the club’s various rooms offer elegant backdrops with warm lighting, classic molding, and rich textures that complement almost any wedding style.

How do you handle a wedding split between a church ceremony and a separate reception venue?

Timeline planning is everything. We work with our couples well in advance to map out travel time, portrait windows, and key moments at each location. At a church like Bethel Lutheran, we focus on the architecture, candlelight, and emotional weight of the ceremony. Once we arrive at the reception venue, our attention shifts to the details, energy, and celebration. A thoughtful timeline means nothing feels rushed.
