Emily & John: A Spring Wedding at the Milwaukee Marriott West

Some weddings you walk into and just know the gallery is going to be something special. Emily and John’s spring wedding at Milwaukee Marriott West was one of those days. A lace gown that felt like it belonged in another era, a vintage getaway car, and two people so locked into each other that our job was mostly staying out of the way. Their day started with a reverent Catholic ceremony at St. Jerome’s in Oconomowoc. Then it shifted to a ballroom reception layered in pink florals, candlelight, and the kind of dance floor energy that keeps us shooting until the very last song.

Getting Ready and Sacred Vows

Emily’s getting-ready suite at the Marriott had these rich burgundy walls that gave us gorgeous warm tones right from the start. Her bridesmaids were all in matching lavender robes, gathered tight around her while she stepped into her Milla Nova gown. That dress stopped us in our tracks. Long lace sleeves, a high neckline, a dramatic open back, and a train that just kept going. It was vintage and modern at the same time. It suited Emily like it was made for her.

St. Jerome’s Catholic Church is the kind of space that makes a photographer pay attention. Vaulted ceilings, warm stone, stained glass filtering soft color across the sanctuary. We shot wide early on to capture the full scope of that architecture, because it deserved it. When Emily came down the aisle, John lit up. There’s no other way to describe it. His whole face changed, and we were ready for it.

Their ceremony was reverent and deeply emotional. You could feel both families holding their breath. After the final blessing, Emily and John burst through those heavy church doors to a wall of cheers. Her veil caught the wind as she threw her bouquet overhead. Moments like that are why we love this work.

A Classic Car and Golden Light

If you give us a vintage car and late-spring light, we are going to make the most of it. After the ceremony, Emily and John climbed into a classic convertible for a few quiet minutes together. Those in-between moments are absolute gold. Emily leaned into her new husband, his arm around her, both of them just breathing it in. No rush. No schedule pressure. Just the two of them being married for the first time.

Then we pulled over near a grassy field where the light was doing something incredible. Soft, warm, filtering through tall grasses at that perfect late-afternoon angle. We pulled in close for some of those frames, letting the backlight wrap around them. Honestly, these are the portraits you dream about getting. Emily and John were completely relaxed, playful and affectionate. That is when we do our best work. No stiff posing needed. Just two people genuinely enjoying the fact that they just got married.

A Ballroom Reception to Remember

Walking into the Milwaukee Marriott West ballroom felt like stepping into a completely different world. Opal Bloom covered every table in blush and pink florals, layered with gold accents and flickering candles. The whole room had a warm glow. A floral wall doubled as a photo backdrop, and a pink ombré seating chart tied in perfectly. Gold-beaded chargers anchored each place setting. Ambrosia Events coordinated the entire flow, and it showed in every seamless transition. If you’re considering the Marriott West for your own reception, know that the ballroom photographs beautifully with this kind of intentional design.

Simma’s Bakery delivered a showstopper: four tiers of white fondant covered in sugar roses, topped with a custom “Mr & Mrs Kovach” topper. The room cheered as Emily and John cut into it. From there, the Blue Waters King Band took over and shifted the energy from elegant to electric. Their first dance under crystal chandeliers was tender and quiet. It didn’t take long before the floor was packed. That shift from polished ceremony to late-night party energy is something we live for. This spring wedding at Milwaukee Marriott ended exactly how the best ones do: everyone on their feet, the music loud, and the newlyweds right in the middle of it all. Frequently Asked Questions about Milwaukee Marriott West Weddings

What makes the Milwaukee Marriott West a great reception venue?

The Marriott West features a spacious ballroom with elegant chandeliers and warm uplighting options that photograph beautifully. On-site catering handles food and beverage service, and ample suites are available for the wedding party and out-of-town guests. It works well for larger guest counts while still feeling polished and personal.

How do you handle photography when the ceremony and reception are at different locations?

Multi-venue days are something we plan for carefully. Before the wedding, we work with the couple and their coordinator to build a timeline that accounts for travel, portraits, and buffer time. For that reason, nothing feels rushed. Building in transition moments (like a vintage car ride between venues) lets the couple enjoy every part of the day without watching the clock.

We’re planning a wedding in the Milwaukee area. How can we see more of your work?

Congratulations! We love working in the Milwaukee area. For that reason, we encourage you to view our wedding photography portfolio. It showcases a wide range of celebrations, and we would be happy to share complete galleries that are relevant to your specific plans.
