Barefoot and Happy: A Summer Family Wilderness Session
The boy launched himself off the ground mid-laugh, arms wide, zero hesitation. That was the first five minutes. This summer family wilderness session outside Munich gave us the kind of energy you can’t manufacture, and we loved every frame that came out of it.
Barefoot Kids and Long Golden Light
We shot this session on a wooded trail just outside Munich, and the setting was exactly right. Tall trees filtered the late afternoon sun into soft, directional light that wrapped around everything. We didn’t need a single modifier. Nature handled it.
Mom was calm and present the entire time, and that set the tone for everything. Her son bounced between bursts of energy and sweet, quiet moments leaning into her side. The baby was content in her arms, wide-eyed and curious. We followed all of it, pulling in close for the tender stuff and shooting wide when the landscape deserved to be part of the story.
There’s a moment in this gallery where the little one is lying on a lace blanket, floral crown slightly crooked, looking straight at us. That kind of stillness from a baby is a gift, and we weren’t about to waste it. These are the frames that make family photography worth showing up for.
The meadow at the end of the path gave us one more scene. Yellow wildflowers everywhere, deep green behind it, and these two kids completely in their element. We shot the boy peeking over the flowers with that infectious grin, then turned to catch mom pressing a kiss against the baby’s cheek. If you’re considering family photos in Munich, the surrounding forests and meadows give you more variety in one session than most locations can offer in three.
We have a thing for families who just let it happen. No stiff posing, no forced smiles. Just real life with good light behind it. That’s when we do our best work, and this session reminded us exactly why.
Do you photograph family sessions in Germany?
We do. We travel for family sessions throughout Europe and beyond. Munich’s forests and meadows are especially gorgeous for summer sessions. Reach out through our contact page and we’ll work out the details together.
What’s the best time of day for an outdoor family session in summer?
Late afternoon into golden hour gives us the softest, warmest light. In summer, that means starting about two hours before sunset. We’ll help you pick the timing based on your location and the look you’re going for.
