Little One, Big Moment: A Summer Floral Newborn Session

Soft cream wraps, dried florals, and a baby who slept through the whole thing. This summer floral newborn session at our Garver Feed Mill studio was one of those mornings where everything just clicked, and we got to do what we love most: slow down and photograph the tiniest details of a brand new life.

Florals, Warm Tones, and a Very Sleepy Baby

We designed this setup with summer in mind. Dried yellow blooms, creamy textures, and muted earth tones that felt organic without being fussy. The palette was gentle, and so was the pace. Our studio inside Garver Feed Mill stays warm and quiet for exactly this reason. Babies need calm, and we give them as much time as they need.

We pulled in tight on this one. The lace bonnet, the knit swaddle, the tiny fingers curled up under her chin. These are the details parents forget faster than they think they will. That’s exactly why we photograph them.

One thing we always tell families: you belong in the frame. Some of our strongest newborn portraits are the ones where a parent steps in, holds their baby close, and just breathes. No posing. No performance. Just connection.

This last image stopped us. Mom stepped outside against the ivy wall at Garver, and the light wrapped around her and baby like it was planned. It wasn’t. That’s the kind of moment we live for as a newborn photographer in Madison. If you’re expecting and thinking about a session, reach out. We’d love to build something just for your family.

Frequently Asked Questions about Newborn Sessions at Garver Feed Mill

What makes the Garver Feed Mill studio a good space for newborn photography?

Our studio inside Garver Feed Mill is designed specifically for newborns. We control the temperature, lighting, and sound so your baby stays comfortable the entire session. The space also has beautiful natural textures like exposed brick and ivy right outside, which give us variety without ever leaving the building.

When should I book a newborn session with Twig & Olive?

We recommend booking during your second or third trimester so we can reserve a spot within the first two weeks after your due date. Newborns are sleepiest and most curl-able in those early days, which helps us capture all the tiny details. Reach out through our contact page and we’ll get everything scheduled.
