A Fall Microwedding in the Oak Savanna: Seven Acre Dairy Company
She wore a hot pink floral dress. He showed up in a navy suit with a floral tie to match. And their ceremony happened under the oaks with maybe a dozen people watching. This Seven Acre Dairy fall microwedding was one of those days that reminded us why small celebrations hit different. No bridal party logistics, no hour-long cocktail hour, no complicated timeline. Just two people, the people they love most, and a stunning property in Paoli, Wisconsin, right along the Sugar River.
The Kind of Day You Can Actually Feel
A microwedding has this energy that never gets diluted. Every laugh, every squeeze of the hand, every quiet look carries weight because there’s nothing competing with it. That was this entire day. Their ceremony took place out in the oak savanna with a simple wooden A-frame arch, and we shot it wide to capture how open and wild the landscape felt around them. Guests stood close. You could hear every word without a microphone. And the moment they were pronounced married, both of them threw their arms in the air like they’d just won something. Honestly, they kind of did.
From there, champagne got popped right at the ceremony site. No transition to a separate cocktail hour. No shuffling between rooms. Celebration just started exactly where the vows ended, and that seamless energy is something we live for as photographers. It gave us real, unscripted moments back to back.
Golden Light in the Tall Grass
After the ceremony, we walked the couple into the surrounding fields and along the tree line for portraits. Fall light that afternoon was warm and hazy, cutting through the oaks at exactly the right angle. Goldenrod and tall prairie grass came up to their waists in some spots, and the color contrast between her bright pink dress and all that golden green was a photographer’s dream. These two were completely relaxed, and that is when we do our best work.
One of our favorite things about Seven Acre Dairy Company is how much variety you get without ever leaving the property. Restored oak savanna feels wild and open. Near the buildings, you’ll find young trees, stone details, and clean modern architecture. And then there’s the Sugar River running through it all. If you’re considering an intimate fall celebration near Madison and want a venue that feels both polished and natural, this place should be on your list. It’s the kind of Seven Acre Dairy fall microwedding photography that keeps us coming back to this corner of Paoli.
Interior details are worth mentioning too. Wire cow sculptures on the ceiling caught our eye immediately. A gorgeous bar area anchors the space, and Seven Acre Dairy Co. lettering on the glass entrance is surrounded by bright flowers. Every corner had character. We spent time on those details early in the day because they’re genuinely part of the story. To view more of our intimate celebrations, check out our wedding photography portfolio.

What makes Seven Acre Dairy Company a great venue for a fall microwedding?
The property offers an incredible range of settings in one compact location. Restored oak savanna, the Sugar River, manicured grounds, and modern boutique architecture all give couples variety for portraits and ceremony backdrops without needing to travel between locations. In fall, the golden prairie grass and warm light through the oaks make it especially photogenic.
How do you approach photographing a microwedding differently than a larger wedding?
With a smaller guest list, we lean into the intimacy. There are more genuine, unscripted moments between the couple and their closest people, and the pace is usually more relaxed. That means longer portrait time, closer attention to details, and the freedom to follow the day as it unfolds rather than racing through a packed timeline.
We’re planning a wedding in the Madison area. How can we see more of your work?
Congratulations! We love working in the Madison area. For that reason, we encourage you to view our wedding photography portfolio. It showcases a wide range of celebrations, and we would be happy to share complete galleries that are relevant to your specific plans.
