Athly & Hattie’s Boho-Inspired Whispering Springs Golf Club Wedding

There’s a moment during golden hour when the tall grass catches the last of the sun and everything just glows. That’s when we looked at each other and said, “This is it.” This Whispering Springs Golf Club wedding had us from the very first detail flat lay to the final dance floor frame. Athly and Hattie brought rich autumn textures, heirloom pieces with real history behind them, and a relaxed energy that gave us room to work the way we love to. Add in two goldendoodles crashing the first look, and honestly, this was our kind of day from start to finish.

Earthy Details and Heirloom Touches

Before anyone walked down the aisle, the details were already telling us everything about this couple. Athly’s Jenny Yoo gown hung against a decorative metal screen, those billowy sleeves catching soft window light in a way that made our job easy. Next to it, a handwritten note from Grandma Mary sat nestled in dried moss alongside a vintage coin and antique locket. Those inherited pieces carried real weight. We pulled in close for all of it because those quiet, personal objects deserve the same attention as the big moments.

The florals leaned hard into fall, and FlowerMoxie absolutely nailed the wild, organic look Athly and Hattie wanted. Dusty peach roses, burgundy dahlias, blue thistle, and ferns spilled out of every arrangement. Rust and cream ribbons tied it all together. Even the boutonnieres were laid out on a bed of baby’s breath like tiny works of art. That kind of intention in the details always gets us excited, because it means the whole gallery is going to have a throughline.

A First Look with Fur Babies

For their first look, Athly and Hattie picked a spot outside the clubhouse surrounded by stone walls and pink hydrangeas. The tenderness hit immediately. Hattie grinned the second she turned the corner. Athly couldn’t stop smiling long enough to hold still. Then their two goldendoodles came bounding in, tails going absolutely wild, and the whole moment dissolved into laughter. We were firing nonstop because you can’t stage that kind of joy. These two were completely relaxed, and honestly, that is when we do our best work.

From there, we grabbed wedding party portraits around the grounds of Whispering Springs Golf Club. The bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses in deep velvet, rust, and mauve. That color story against the crabapple trees and dried hydrangea bushes felt straight out of an autumn mood board. The groomsmen kept things clean in navy suits from HH Clothing Co. We shot wide for several of these because the grounds deserved to be part of the frame, not just a backdrop.

The Ceremony Under Branch Chandeliers

Inside the clubhouse ballroom, the ceremony space was bright and warm. A metal grid arch covered in lush florals anchored the front, and overhead, a stunning branch chandelier cast golden light across the whole room. The light coming through those tall windows gave us everything we needed. Guests filled rows of wooden chairs as Athly and Hattie exchanged vows with rolling greens visible through the glass behind them.

One of our favorite moments was the kiss. The room went from reverent silence to pure eruption in half a second. That shift is something we always look for, and this couple delivered it beautifully. The energy in the room completely changed, and we caught it right at the turn.

Golden Hour in the Tall Grass

After the ceremony, we stole Athly and Hattie away for sunset portraits, and the light that evening was extraordinary. Golden hour turned the tall prairie grass into a sea of amber. The sun dropped behind a line of oaks, sending long shafts of warmth across the field. This is the kind of Whispering Springs Golf Club wedding photography that stops us mid-scroll every single time we revisit a gallery.

Athly’s bouquet, overflowing with blush roses, dried ferns, and that heirloom locket, looked stunning against the wild landscape. Hattie pulled her close. The two of them just existed in that light for a while. No posing, no prompts. Just quiet connection. We backed off and let the moment breathe, shooting long so we could keep the whole golden field in frame. Those are the images that remind us why we do this.

Reception Details and the First Dance

Back inside, the reception space was warm and layered in all the right ways. A custom wooden guest book read “Athly & Ha Roepcke 10.08.2022,” and an acrylic welcome sign greeted guests near the entrance. Elevated centerpieces in black metal frames held rich floral arrangements above crisp white linens. Above the stone fireplace, that branch chandelier cast a golden glow that tied the whole room together.

The first dance was one of those still, honest moments. We converted it to black and white because it strips away everything but the two of them. Foreheads pressed together. Swaying slowly while friends and family watched from the edges of the room. Frequently Asked Questions about Whispering Springs Golf Club Weddings

What makes Whispering Springs Golf Club a great venue for wedding photography?

Whispering Springs offers a rare mix of indoor elegance and outdoor beauty. The clubhouse ballroom features floor-to-ceiling windows and a stunning branch chandelier. Outside, the grounds include manicured gardens, tall prairie grass, and mature oak trees. For sunset portraits especially, the property provides warm, open backdrops that photograph beautifully in any season.

What advice do you have for couples planning a boho-inspired wedding?

Focus on natural textures and personal details. Choose a venue with character, like a golf club with stone and wood finishes. Layer in organic florals, vintage heirlooms, and earthy tones. Mismatched bridesmaid dresses in complementary fabrics add visual richness without feeling overdone. Let your personality guide the choices rather than chasing trends.
