Beach Vows and String Lights: A Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana Wedding

White sand, turquoise water, and their closest people all in one place. This couple said their vows on the beach at Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana with the Caribbean right behind them, and the day stayed easy from the first champagne pop to the last dance. We’re based in Wisconsin, and days like this are a big part of why we travel.

Getting Ready in the Caribbean Sun

Getting ready at a resort has its perks. Nobody is rushing across town. The bridesmaids were in matching floral robes, the champagne got popped, and the whole room was in vacation mode. Her details were lovely, and the laughing never really stopped.

One detail got a close-up: her bouquet. Blush flowers and dark thistle, with a locket charm and a photo tucked into the stems. A quiet way to bring along someone who was missing from the day. We spotted it during portraits and made sure it got its own frame. That’s the kind of photo that matters thirty years from now.

Vows on the Sand

The ceremony was set up on the sand: a wooden triangle arch with pampas grass and florals, rows of dark rattan chairs, and the ocean behind all of it. We shot wide to show the whole scene, then moved in tight for the ring exchange. That’s usually where you see what the day means to them.

Guests sat close under leaning palms. Everyone there had made a real effort to be there, and you could feel it. Nobody was just attending.

That triangle arch against open sky and turquoise water made a simple, strong frame, and it kept all the attention where it belonged: on the two of them.

Golden Hour, Palm Groves, and a Reception Under the Lights

After the wedding party photos on the beach (there was a lot of jumping), we took the two of them for a walk around the resort at golden hour. Warm light came through the palms. We worked the tropical gardens, the pool courtyard, and the stretch of sand where the palms lean toward the water, and every spot gave us something different.

They didn’t need much posing. They walked the beach together, still taking in the fact that they were married, and we followed along. Some of our favorite frames from the day came out of that walk.

The reception was outdoors under a canopy of string lights, with gold accents, white throne chairs at the sweetheart table, and a two-tier white cake with a gold drip. The toasts got plenty of laughs. Their first dance under all those lights had everyone’s full attention. Then she put on her custom “Mrs. Oestreich” denim jacket and the dance floor turned into a party. Big smiles, a lot of dancing, and nobody in a hurry to call it a night.
