A dog in a red plaid bow tie will steal any photo, and Wolfie did not disappoint. We headed to Summers Christmas Tree Farm in Middleton for these Middleton Christmas tree farm photos, and from the very first frame, this little family made our job easy.
The Kind of Moment You Can’t Pose
After we delivered the gallery, we got a message that stopped us in our tracks: “Our hands down favorite from our session is this photo. The lighting was perfect on this chilly Sunday afternoon, Wolfie looking up at us with that ‘Can we play yet?!’ look, and overall just shows off our little family in a beautiful way. We love it!” That’s the whole point, right there. Not a perfectly posed portrait. A real moment with their family member looking up like, “Okay, are we done yet?”
Pets bring something unpredictable to a session, and we are here for it. Wolfie’s expression tells you more about this couple’s personality than any posed shot ever could. We shot low and wide to keep all three in the frame with tree rows stretching behind them. That soft winter light did the rest.

Late fall through early winter is ideal. The evergreens stay full and green, and the low afternoon sun creates soft, golden light through the rows. We recommend a late-afternoon session to catch that light at its best.
