Little Ones, Big Memories: A Jacksonville Family Photography Session
Four sisters, a sandy trail, and warm January light that only Florida delivers. This Jacksonville family photography session at Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve had us grinning behind the camera from the very first frame. Mom brought her crew in from out of state. The goal was simple: capture this family exactly as they are right now, somewhere that felt nothing like a studio.
Pine Trees, Palmettos, and Zero Agenda
We tell every family the same thing: just be yourselves and let us do the rest. These four took that to heart. They ran the trails, kicked up sand, cracked each other up, and barely noticed we were there. That’s when we do our best work. Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve gave us tall pines, soft white sand, and enough variety that every image feels like a different world.
If you’re considering family photos in Jacksonville, this park should be on your list. The coastal forest has a texture and warmth that photographs beautifully in late afternoon. That’s when light drops low through the canopy and everything turns gold. We shot wide through the trees to show the scale of the place. Then we pulled in tight for the real stuff: a toddler grabbing her sister’s hand, all four girls piled together laughing.
The individual portraits might be our favorites. Each girl has her own thing going on, and we leaned into that. One twirls. One explores. One poses like she’s been doing this her whole life. The littlest one just does whatever she wants, which is honestly the best approach. Families on vacation carry a different energy. Looser and lighter. It shows in the images every time.
That last image of Mom on the trail with all four girls is the kind of frame that becomes more valuable every year. Kids grow fast. These photos freeze a version of your family you’ll want to come back to. We travel for family sessions like this one. New locations always bring something unexpected.
Is Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve a good location for family photos?
It’s one of our favorite spots in the Jacksonville area. The mix of sandy trails, pine forest, and coastal palmettos creates variety without having to move far. Late afternoon light filters through the canopy beautifully, and there’s plenty of room for kids to run and play while we work.
Does Twig & Olive travel for family sessions outside of Wisconsin?
We do. We love traveling for sessions because new locations bring fresh energy and families tend to be more relaxed on vacation. Reach out and tell us where you’re headed. We’ll make it work.
