The Heart of It All: Nature Filled Family Session
Golden hour hit and this kid took off running, and honestly, that’s when we knew this nature filled family session was going to be one of our favorites. The light at Token Creek Park was warm and low, wrapping around everything, and this family just leaned into it.
Connection Over Perfection
We tell every family the same thing before we start: just be together. Don’t worry about where to look or whether your kid is cooperating. The best frames always come from the in-between moments. A toddler reaching up. A parent cracking up at something ridiculous. That’s the stuff that actually belongs on your wall.
This little guy found a dandelion near an old red shed and that was it. The whole session shifted around him, and we followed. There was chasing, there was laughing, and there was a moment where he just stood there holding that dandelion like it was the most important thing in the world. We shot it all. If you’re considering family photography in the DeForest area, Token Creek gives you open fields, pockets of shade, wildflowers, and that soft September light that does all the heavy lifting.
We pulled in close for the candid stuff and went wide when the landscape earned it. That field of purple wildflowers at the end? Dad lifted his son overhead and Mom just watched, and the whole frame came together without a single direction from us. These are the moments we live for as photographers. No posing, no script. Just a family being exactly who they are.
When is the best time of year for family photos at Token Creek Park?
Late summer through early fall is our favorite window. The wildflowers are blooming, the light stays golden well into the evening, and the park has a mix of open meadow and tree cover that gives us variety in a single session.
How do I book a family session with Twig & Olive?
