Together Is Our Favorite Place: Spring Family Photos in San Diego
Golden light, dry brush, a baby in a green velvet dress, and two parents completely wrapped up in her. That’s what this spring San Diego family session at Crest Canyon Park gave us. Honestly, it’s the kind of evening we wish we could bottle up.
The Light Did All the Heavy Lifting
We timed this session for the last hour before sunset, and Crest Canyon delivered. The trail opens up into wide, sandy paths lined with coastal sage. As the sun dropped, everything turned warm and soft. We shot wide to let the landscape breathe, then pulled in tight for the quiet moments.
What we loved about this family is simple: they weren’t performing. They held their daughter, talked to her, laughed when she grabbed dad’s collar. Those in-between moments are everything. A spring San Diego family session lives and dies by that kind of ease, and these three had it in spades.
And then there was this little one on her own. Green velvet tutu, sandy path, brush on both sides. She sat there like she owned the place. We got low, shot close, and let her steal the frame. If you’re considering Crest Canyon for family photos, the trails give you variety without leaving one stretch of path. It’s a photographer’s dream when the light cooperates. In spring, it almost always does.
Sessions like this remind us why we do what we do. No elaborate setup. No complicated wardrobe plan. Just a family being themselves in beautiful light. Take a look at more of our work on our family photography portfolio.
