A Beautiful Beginning: Newborn Girl Session

She slept through the whole thing. That’s always the dream with a newborn girl session, and this little one delivered. Calm, content, and completely unfazed by the camera or the wraps. We built half a dozen setups around her at our Garver Feed Mill studio, and she never stirred.

Soft Light, Simple Setups

Our studio inside Garver Feed Mill gives us full control over light and temperature. That matters more than people realize with newborns. We keep the room warm, the music low, and let the baby set the pace. No rushing. If she needs to eat or be held, we pause. The session works around her.

For this family, we went with soft neutrals and creams. Clean wraps, a knit-lined bucket, a tiny floral headband. Every detail felt classic without being fussy. We pulled in tight on the close-ups because at this age, the details change so fast. Those little fingers. The way her lips curl when she’s deep asleep. That’s what parents come back to years later.

And then there are the family frames. Dad holding her like she might break. Mom pulling her in close, completely at ease. These are the images that hit different when you look back. We always make time for parent portraits during a newborn girl session because those first days deserve every angle.

What makes a studio newborn session different from an in-home session?

Our Garver Feed Mill studio gives us complete control over lighting, temperature, and backdrops. That means a wider variety of setups and consistently soft, even light. We also have a full collection of wraps, props, and accessories so families don’t need to bring a thing.
