Golden Light and Big Smiles: Laguna Niguel Family Photographer

The light was already doing its thing when this family showed up to Aliso Canyon. We knew immediately this was going to be one of those sessions. Four boys, two parents who clearly adore each other, and the kind of golden hour that makes a Laguna Niguel family photographer grateful to be holding a camera. No stiffness. No forcing it. Just a family being themselves on a Southern California hillside.

The Kind of Energy You Can’t Fake

Every family has their own rhythm. This one’s was loud, warm, and a little chaotic in the best possible way. The boys were chasing each other down the trail before we even got set up. Dad was cracking jokes. Mom kept pulling everyone in close and then laughing when the toddler squirmed away. We leaned into all of it.

That’s the thing about working with families in a place like Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park. The trails, the open hillsides, the scrubby green brush lining every path: it all gives kids room to move. It gives us room to work. We shot wide on the trail sections to capture the landscape, then pulled in tight for the quieter moments between parents.

One of our favorite stretches was the sibling photos. The older boys were so sweet with their little sister, and we barely had to direct anything. A kiss on the forehead. A piggyback attempt that turned into a wrestling match. Those are the frames that end up on the wall. That kind of sibling connection is something we live for as family photographers.
