Fresh Air and First Photos: Fall Madison Newborn Photos

Late autumn light has this way of going soft and golden right when you need it most. We brought this little family out to McCarthy Park in Cottage Grove for fall Madison newborn photos, and the meadow delivered exactly the kind of warmth we were hoping for.

Wildflowers, Open Fields, and a Very Sleepy Baby

We set up in a pocket of the park where wildflowers were still hanging on, purples and yellows scattered through the tall grass. The vintage chair, the wicker basket, the soft wraps: all of it felt right against that backdrop. Sometimes a location just meets the styling halfway, and McCarthy Park did exactly that.

When mom and dad stepped into the frame together, we pulled back to let the landscape breathe. Open meadow, soft sky, their brand new daughter between them. That’s the kind of image we think about long after a session wraps. No complicated posing, just a family standing together in a beautiful place, holding what matters most.

Outdoor newborn sessions ask for flexibility. A breeze picks up, the baby stirs, the light shifts behind a cloud. We read all of it in real time. This little one slept through nearly everything, which gave us room to play with different setups and let the natural surroundings do the heavy lifting. McCarthy Park is one of those spots we keep coming back to. The open fields give us gorgeous backlight at golden hour, and the tree lines along the edges create natural framing without us having to look for it.
