Middleton Portrait Photography: Fur Hats, Bow Ties & a Very Good Boy
A yellow Lab in a red plaid bow tie will steal every frame. We knew it the second we pulled up. This Middleton portrait photography session at Summers Christmas Tree Farm had warmth built into every detail: golden hour light through rows of pines, matching white fur hats, and a dog who understood the assignment better than most humans.
The Kind of Energy That Makes Our Job Easy
These two showed up relaxed, laughing, and completely themselves. That’s when we do our best work. There was no stiffness, no overthinking. They’d lean into each other, the dog would nose his way between them, and we’d fire off a dozen frames before anyone noticed. The rows of evergreens at Summers Christmas Tree Farm gave us depth and texture in every direction. Late afternoon light turned that dry grass field into something golden.
We pulled in tight for individual portraits with the dog. The bond between each of them and that Lab was its own story. Then we stepped back wide to let the tree farm do its thing. That contrast between close, quiet moments and the bigger landscape is something we chase in every couples session.
If you’re thinking about bringing your dog to a session, do it. Pets change the whole dynamic. They break the ice, they make everyone laugh, and the candid moments around them are the ones you’ll come back to. Check out more of our couples portrait work to see what we mean.
Those matching fur hats and muffs in the final setup? A photographer’s dream. The playfulness of the styling against the rustic tree farm backdrop gave us something unexpected. That’s exactly the kind of Middleton portrait photography we love making.
Can I bring my dog to a couples portrait session with Twig & Olive?
Absolutely. Dogs are welcome at any outdoor session, and we actually encourage it. Pets bring out natural reactions and genuine laughter that posed photos can’t replicate. Just let us know ahead of time so we can plan around your pup’s energy level and favorite treats.
Is Summers Christmas Tree Farm a good location for couples photos?
It’s one of our favorite spots near Middleton. The rows of evergreens create depth and texture, and the surrounding fields catch beautiful golden hour light. It works for every season and gives us a variety of backdrops without ever leaving the property.
